Brake Light Stays On When Headlights On?

Hi guys,

did a search but couldn't find anything on this.

my 04 yaris (3dr, 1.0) displays the break light (on the top rear of the car) whenever the headlights/sidelights are on.

it stays on all the time, and does seem to brighten when I brake, but obviously it should go off when not braking and it doesn't.

I thought this may be a pedal switch problem, but it works properly when headlights are off. (ie. brake light only comes on when braking).

any advice on how to fix this? I presume it's not a major issue and could be a switch/wiring problem I may be able to handle myself?

thanks guys

You may have an earth fault - on your rear lamps.. which when on earth through the brake light . (Not uncommon on older cars through corrosin.) Remove rear light clusters and check for corrosion.. multimeter would help greatly)
