Used Toyota 12 Month Warranty

I just bought a 56 plate T180, the previous owner bought it from a Toyota dealership last October. I have sent the paperwork away to transfer the warranty to me. My question is, can I purchase a 12 month warranty from Toyota when the current warranty expires?

Any ideas on cost and could I pay monthly?

Also are there any common potential failures the transferred used warranty wouldn't cover e.g flywheel, input shaft bearing etc?

Thanks

You can get a warranty from Toyota when your current warranty expires. Call into your local dealership and they will have a booklet about their warranty, which contains a full list of what it covers and what isn't covered, and FAQs. Have a look on their website, there might be something on there. The Toyota warranty is much better than a warranty available from a warranty company. I think you can take a warranty out with Toyota until a car is over 8 years old, 56 plate means nothing to me as I live in NI so we have different reg plates.

You can pay monthly for your warranty with Toyota, and it works out cheaper to pay by direct debit :)

Hi Nickyboy,

your warranty can be extended after this 12 month warranty expires.I have just renewed mine for a further 2 years.Works out cheaper than 2 one year warranties.RAV4 vehicles over 3 years old are £610 for a year, unlimited mileage.£555 for 10,000 or less miles.2 years is £895 unlimited mileage.£815 for 10,000 miles or less.Included in all warranties,is AA breakdown recovery, including all European countries.Pretty comprehensive.Hope that helps.

Cheers Lorna & Lizard. Sounds good, though i'll be paying monthly which will probably bump up the overall cost.

AFIK there is no extra charge for paying monthly direct debit.

My warranty is about to expire (bought a 57 plate Xtr 2.2 D4D last September). Is it really worth extending? Is there anything I should ask the dealer to check (going in for mot as due soon) while it's in the garage? PS had no problems except the dreaded warped brake syndrome and had new discs and pads- NOT covered by warranty!)

From what I've read the Toyota warranty is better than aftermarket ones. Obviously they won't cover wear and tear items, but also from what i've read, if something really bad does happen, it's !Removed! expensive!
