Wont Rev Over 1500 Rpm

hi i have an avensis 53 reg d4d. it is running fine then it wont go over 1500 rpm like it is blocked. then if i switch off the car and restart it it will drive as normal. the engine management light has come on and the mechanic said it was the igniton switch. it is after going again though.

any ideas what might be causing it? could it be related to the turbo?

no turbo is not guilty.

check with:

- MAF sensor

- fuel filter last changed

- SCV resistance 9to be compared with manual)

- flexibility of throttle itself

did your avensis have all the same symptoms? mine is driving fine but it goes into limp mode every once in a while. did your engine management light coming on? did you put in a new scv valve?

cheers for the reply. an auto electrician is looking at the step motor next week. if thats good ill go at the scv valve.

Mine's got the same symptoms (Avensis d4d). Did you find the root cause to your problem?
