7A-Fe Injector Swap

Hi Guys,

My '96 Carina E 1.8 has developed an intermittent misfire when the engine is hot - after reading various posts this sounds like one of the injectors failing.

My engine is the 7A-FE with the blue top injectors - which are pretty hard to get hold of (from the scrappies). I can get hold of a set of grey top injectors from an early Avensis with the 7A-FE engine but not sure if they would fit - the injectors look quite different. Has anyone fitted these later grey top injectors to a Carina E 1.8?

Hi,

Did a bit more digging on the 7A-FE injector swap today - unfortunately there are a few crucial differences between the blue top and grey top injectors including different lengths and spray angles. D'oh.

I guess the inlet manifold on the 7A-FE fitted to the Avensis must be different to that fitted to the Carina E.

Don't suppose anyone has any blue top injectors laying around? Please get in touch if so.

Hi madji, I've got 4 of them,( my carina is going for scrap) do you want them? Also the lambda probe is available(£50 from a scrappy!) make me an offer! Where are you? Or I can post at cost.
