When l start up in the morning and reverse out of the drive, as soon as l turn the steering wheel there is a loud screaching noise coming from the front wheels area.

anyone have any idea what it may be? it only happens on the first turn of the steering wheel.

Hi, I think its more likely to be one of the belts on the engine, usually the power steering belts can do this on start up when the steering wheel is turned onto its full lock

As pointed out by zinc it could be the belt, its just possible that it is damp first thing in the morning,so the belt slips but soon dries out and manages to behave as normal. Also there is a pressure relief valve that can make a noise when full lock is reached to save blowing all the seals in the steering ram.

Best check belt for the correct tension as if it is loose,it won't cure itself

Just trying to help

I've found that when power steering fluid is low and air is drawn into the system it makes a loud squeal. topping up while engine is running and having someone turn the wheel works a treat!

good luck.
