Hi,

I've recently moved to the UK a brought the family car with us from Australia, a 2012 Corolla Sports Sedan (or Saloon as its called here).

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a Corolla and a Auris? The Auris in the UK looks very much like a Corolla hatchback in Australia.

Hello Pete - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

The Auris is effectively the European version of the Corolla hatchback, with a different range of engines to the Australian version. The first generation 2007-2012 was built in Turkey (3 door) and in the UK (5 door). The second generation is built entirely in the UK for the European market.

Engines: first generation - 1.4 and from 2008 1.33, and 1.6 petrols; 1.4, 2.0 and 2.2 diesels; 1.8 hybrid:

Second generation: 1.33 and 1.6 petrols; 1.4 diesel; 1.8 hybrid.

The Corolla has been sold in saloon form only in the European market since 2007 - but has not been sold in the UK since this date, due to the British preference for hatchbacks. For the European market, the Corolla saloon is built in Turkey.
