In The Market For A 1.4 1.6 Auris

Hi guys I am in the market for auris 07/08 for a friend.

possibly aiming for the 1.4 due to lower insurance/tax and fuel economy around town.

any particular common faults to watch out for?

Early Auris could suffer from squealing brakes which was largely sorted by different brake pads, and the interior of early examples could suffer from rattles around the dashboard. The 'auto' option ( Multi Mode Transmission - actually a manual gearbox with an automated clutch) can be troublesome and expensive to repair. Take it the 1.4 is the petrol VVTi rather than the diesel 1.4D4D.

1.3 engine no problems at all, good fuel economy is driven well, practical and reliable. No common faults with the car.

it was a 250 mile round but hopefully worth it. this 1.6 isnt like the old one 1.6 for burning oil is it?

Haven't seen any reports of oil consumption issues with the Auris 1.6.
