Squeaking Noise Somewhere From Rear...

Hello everyone, my name is Alex, and i'm owner of Toyota IQ 1.33 CVT

Last weeks it started making a annoying noise that sounds on every bumpy road, it's somewhere from the top of the back door, noise was short like when a glass cracking, after examining everything(roof headlining, trim weatherstrip) at end i sprayed the hinge with WD40 and the noise disappeared!

But after started another noise from same place, this time is different it sounds like from trim weatherstrip, so i started again examining everything, i sprayed the weatherstrip with silicone spray from every side, that caused that the weatherstrip now can easy came off from the car... after i swiped every silicone and applied a dual sided tape to make a better grip for the weatherstrip, some times the noise disappeared but after a bumpy road it start again, some times it appears again slowly i mean at beginning stage it need a very heavy bumps on road to make a noise but when it's fully appeared on every small bumps it make the noise...

Few days ago when it started again, i immediately stopped the car and opened the back door and only what i did is touched the weatherstrip after that it disappeared for a little time, some times that help some times not... after also i tried to stick a paper tape where the weatherstrip contacts with the door that also did not helped...

Here a short video when i pushing the window from inside that makes the same noise but on a bumpy road it makes much more similar noise... i also tried to push the window with opened door and it did not made any noise.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC1Tf42406U

If anyone have any idea please tell me what can be this or what else to try?...

When you push the rear windows like i doing in the video do you have same noise? later i will try to record it while driving...

I think now to try remove the half weatherstrip only from the top from where the noise comes and close the door to see if it will continue...

Best regards,
Alex.

Hi Sania. It sounds to me like it might be worth a trip to toyota, otherwise if anything goes wrong, they will say its been messed with and cant be fixed. Just a thought. Cheers and best of luck Colin.

Hi Colin, i still have one year of warranty left but i did not trust much the Toyota dealers here, they are very unexperienced... in the past when i visited them to change a brake pads on a Lexus GS450h first time when they changed the front brake pads they did not installed the anti-squeak brake pad shims, second time on the rear brake pads they threw the anti-squeak shims together with the old brake pads... same on the Lexus dealer that is 350km away from me, i has some squeak noise from dashboard in the Lexus GS450h, while i has warranty they they could not find any noise, when the warranty end they said they found some info about the noises and asked 220 euro to fix :mad2: after that i started doing everything by myself :)

Today i tried to drive with the half weatherstrip off the car(i removed only from the top and closed the door) the noise did not stopped!

Next i tried to drive with the back door open on the bumpy road then the noise stopped!

Now i'm sure that the noise is not from the top of the weatherstrip, now maybe i should try remove it from another side... or the noise comes somewhere else from the door, maybe from the plastics maybe i will try to remove that plastic and drive without out, i will update if will find anything.

Best regards,

Alex.

Ops, sorry, now you can watch it
Today i disassembled every plastic covers from rear of the car, and finally found the problem! that was the door lock!!! the noise made by some plastics on it, i removed it from car and sprayed it all with a silicone spray, now no more those squeaking noises

Thanks everyone, hope my message will be useful to someone :)

Alex.
