Hello,

Is changing the rear wheel bearing assembly on a 2001 Avensis liftback sedan simply a matter of basically; removing wheel, calipers, disk, then.... just a few bolts and the hub assy comes off and can be changed out with a new one???

Thanks,

Terry

There have been reports of the hub assembly rusting onto the support bracket. A pry-bar and mallet will be useful. Extra care is also required to avoid damaging the abs sensor plug/wiring when disconnecting from the rear of the unit. These become brittle with age and need to be teased off gently.

I would say so if its the same as mk2. The mk2 also has shoes for the handbrake

Yes it is just as you said. I took a hub off a scrapped mk1 with disc brakes.

The hubs fit both rear drum and rear disc of all Avensis mk1 and mk2.
