Front Door Wiring Loom Driver Side

Hi,

I need to replace the front door drivers side wiring loom. My Toyota main dealer has quoted 191 quid (Sorry my pound sign has quit) for the loom only, but is not coming back with a quote to install. They are just saying " We would need the vehicle for 2 days as it is quite a big job ".

I'm no mechanic, but to my mind it will involve removing the door card and kick panel beside the accelerator pedal, and possibly the wing mirror cover; remove the old loom; fit new loom; then make good and refit door card, panel, etc. Fiddly but not particularly technical.

I'm concerned that my local Toyota main dealer, will treat this auto electrical job as outside their normal experience, so they are giving their inexperienced techs 2 days where 1 day or less is sufficient for a clued in auto electrician. I'm pretty sure I could do it myself in 2 days. Their TR tow bar loom stretches from the Battery to the towbar. That must be a 7 day job.

Questions,

Is it that big a job?

Is it a mistake to let Toyota Main Dealer service departments do none service type work?

Should i try and find an Auto electrician?

Cheers Grogey
