I go with what the sticker on the engine block says, which is 10w40. A thicker oil is better in an older engine/high milleage engine, as thinner oil will get through any gaps or cracks more easily.

I've gone with Castrol, although if you go to your local Toyota dealership they can supply you with a service kit for the car, and the oil will be Toyota OEM stuff.
