Hi Frostyballs,

I have decided to follow your advice and request dealer to photograph the load-bearing structural components reported to be suffering heavy corrosion.  Thanks for the advice and interest.

I live on the Wirral also. I have also had a few cars from Johnsons. I am also a mechanic. What they are doing is trying to generate work for the workshop that has targets to meet.

I have owned Corollas, Auris times three and work every day on many types of car. All cars start corroding the day they leave the factory this is a fact of life.

Over the years I have been somewhat suprised at how Toyotas appear on visual inspection to look more coroded than other makes during an underside inspection. No idea why but I can tell you that despite this I have never had to replace any Toyota exhaust component even on 10 or 12 year old cars. Never replaced suspension arms anti roll bar links etc etc.

We joke when we get a Toyota in for MOT that we may as well not bother testing it as it will pass anyway. A joke of course but usually true.

Toyotas for sure are not the cars they used to be but they sure are better than the rest.

I really would not worry to much about what Johnsons Toyota say .My dealings ith them have been mixed to say the least.
