hi guys. i just need some advice.i have a Toyota Auris Hybrid 2012 Generation 1 T-spirit. This saturday it was raining very heavily and noticed when i had the full lights on. The dashboard spedo light went dim and then bright again Is this normal. I have never noticed this before as it is the first time i have had to drive in the dark. I brought the car in May this year and it has been the best car i have had in a long time. Just though could it be the small 12v Battery that may need changing. I was using the heater and the front and rear heater elements and had full lights on. Could i have been draingingthe 12v Battery.

kindest regards all.

Is your headlights set to auto?
Were you driving at the time?
While ready is illuminated then everything is powered via the hybrid system and not the 12v Battery. The 12v Battery is there to running things like the central locking/keyless entry and start. One symptom of the Battery being discharged or not holding charge, is the ready light will not illuminate, basically you cannot get the car to move.

I have a 2010 gen 1, in the 2 years of owning it it, I have only had one instance of a flat Battery and that was caused by a cheap obd adapter left plugged in while the car wasn’t used for a weekend.
