Long Brake Pedal Rav 4

Hello to all, I'm new here and need some advice. My wifes rav 4 mk.2 has a long brake pedal and a lot of handbrake travel (9 clicks) so I presume the self adjusters aren't working properly. Is it fairly straightforward to strip off the hubs and clean/replace shoes, adjusters etc. I've done plenty of brake jobs on other cars but always with a Haynes manual handy, but these don't seem to be available in the UK (I got a CD from eBay but it doesn't cover the brakes!).

I'm also going to be replacing the front pads as they're well worn, any tips?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Dave C.
