Rav4 D4d - Beeping Noise

Sorry if this is a stupid question or has already been covered - but...

I have a 2004 Rav4 Xt3 D4d - now and again when I turn off the engine I get a beeping noise for about 20 seconds or so. Any ideas?

It is booked in for another issue this week - I will ask at the garage - I was just curious.

Hi,

I wondered what the beeping was when the car did it to me. What is happening is when you turn off the ignition, you are accidentilally pressing one of the buttons on the key fob (which lock or unlock the car and engage/release the alarm). The beeping is the alarm system telling you that the car is not ready to have the alarm set (door open etc), this is covered in the owners manual.
