Air Vents In Car

Why are the air-vents placed in such an awkward position ?

It was scorching the other day (like today), so I decided to switch on the air-con.

Guess what ?

The air vents closest to me were being blocked by the steering wheel !

How could Toyota be so stupid ?

Has anyone else encountered this problem ?

I've tried to physically turn the vents in every conceivable direction, but to no avail :(

Any suggestions ?

Yes, there's something wrong with the vents on your car!

I admit the P1 one's were easier to move in some ways but I've not had any difficulty moving those on my P2 Yaris either. Is your car still under warranty as a trip to your dealer seems necessary.

Never had a problem with mine. Find them better where they are, cause I find my hands get all sweaty if it's hot and I'm driving, and point them at my hands, and it can then go through the gaps in the steering wheel to my beautiful face... :D

60MPH windows down, who needs air-con, well actually it would be nice!, yeah the vents look cool they're just in the wrong place, all they seem to do is blow gently on your knuckles!

PMSL @ everybody that uses air con in the UK. And about whoever moaning that it was too hot. It's just edged over 35 degrees here today with 70% humidity. Stop moaning, and put your windows down. No doubt on my way to work my window will be down, i think i've used air con once this year, and that was the other night. Humidity was so bad i could not clear the screen what so ever, even had the windscreen wipers on, and trust me, they were shifting water off the screen.

Windows down? I think not!

I'm not moaning about my air con - I love it - even though its not as hot over here, its still lovely to have!

I don't have air con, hence, don't use it... :P

I always drive with my window down when it's warm anyways.

Turn the stereo up, and slap in the Green Day CD. :D

I use it for long journeys i.e. to other towns, but on a normal day my longest journey will last 15 minutes tops. Hardly worth the effort really. Anyway it's already been serviced this year, so i know it's all working properly!

If your by yourself in the car and like the cold air blasting you then try this....

Right side vent by window... point at face.. that cools hand down too. The one just to the left of the steering wheel point down at your body... cools you down nice that one, and then use the right-hand side passenger one to aim at your face... uninterupted cold air!

Then whack the air-con on, highest level, coldest level, re-circulate (for first 5mins to get cabin cold quicker) and have it pointing at feet & face. The car cools, your body cools, your feet cool and your a very happy bunny! Then, when you begin to freeze, turn it all off, open the windows and drive like a man... exhaust blaring, road going very blurry and music pouring out across the land!

It's the freshness that counts! Oh, one other plus point for air-con... if you suffer from hay-fever, the pollen filter helps with that, the window down will make you sneeze, dripple and sniffle like a dog!
