Howdo!

Just come back from a great day out watching Touring cars at Brands Hatch! On the way down though me wee lil Yari scraed the life outta me. The check engine warning light came on so I did the sensible thing and pulled over to have a look under the bonnet. Wiggled a few wires etc but couldn't really do a lot so just carried on and it was fine.

From reading the above topic, does anyone know if I can see what is actually wrong (fault code, etc) without going to a garage with a diagnostics machine??

Many thanks!!

Hope you had a good day out mate!

Apart from using a laptop and diagnostic tools yourself there is no way of finding out what is wrong apart from going to garage.

Your best bet is to reset ecu and if it comes back on go to garage if not then it may have just been a glitch!

Because if you go to a garage and all they do is reset the code and charge you £50 and problem goes it wasted money!

Hope it goes ok!

Just a bit of info:

CEL stays on.....Try re-set and if it returns get it diagnosed.

CEL Flashes.....STOP!!.... This usually means major problems :shutit:

Reset the ecu today and all looks good so far, no returning light so hopefully it stays this way.

Is there any reason as to why it may of come on? Had its MOT last Tues so would it be possible that something may of been knocked??

I had a CEL come up on my 2 not so long ago and it never showed anything on diagnostics, it can happen when a bit of crap goes through a sensor and flashes up a fault, once you clear it and as long as you know your servicing is up to date it's possible that it will only be a one off event.
