Sensor I Think On Top Of The Dash?

cleaned inside the car other day and found some sort of sensor in front of the driver ontop of the dash board ? just in front of the windscreen .

anyone know what its for ? 2002 t sport .

Solar sensor - for the HVAC (air con).

what does it do exactly ??? as it fell into the dash (through the hole) couldnt get to it so just plugged up the hole with a gromit ....

prob need to remove the radio to get to it if i need to ???

If it is a solar sensor (which I think it is) then it measures temperature for the climate control to work.

Should be fairly easy to get to if you take the radio out yeah.
