Hi All, Transfer box needs to be changed in himself's Rav, his is a 2.0L diesel, 2002 version 4.2. He has been offered a transfer box from a petrol Rav, Will it work?

I have both chassis numbers (of the diesel and the petrol) if someone could check compatibility for me?

Thanks a Million

hi purdey

i myself have a 2001 2.0 d4d,...i far as im aware no rav4's have ever had a 'low box',only a rear 'diff lock' on the 4.1's and a 'drive lock' on the 4.3's, to aid traction.

only ever seen i set of gears on any rav4,no 'low box' or 'transfer box',only permanent four wheel drive with the limited slip diff at the rear.

unles irish rav4's are different from british versions,if so....i want one,would love a 'low box' so much easier for off road 'crawling' ,far more control

'anchorman' / 'bothwell buyer' or 'kingo' may be able to help you

I believe both the petrol and diesel have the same E352F transmission as shown and the transfer box should be compatible;

The only difference in the gearbox is that the petrol has an oil cooler and the diesel just has a loop pipe so if you use the whole transmission that will need to be swapped.

Hi All

Ok, So the transfer box has arrived and the other half is humming and hawing and saying it's not gonna fit, and of course i'm the bad one cos i ordered it and organised the shipping on it! :ffs:

I have taken a couple of pics of it, can ANYONE tell me if this is gonna fit in a 2002 Rav4, 2.0L turbo diesel???

I myself can`t see there being a difference, between the petrol and the diesel. But there`s only one way to find out.
