Hi,

I'm intending to buy an Avensis T Spirit ( 06 reg) with 80 k miles on it. It is a diesel. Seeking your expert advice if it is worth going for it as my friend says Toyotas are not good enough after that much high mileage.

Please could you help me make a decision

Well my 55 plate is going oright with 71,000 on the clock. Who said they are no good??? Somewhere on this forum i have read 140,000 miles been done on a 57 plate. Diesel's have nothing to worry about. Just make sure the service history is full serviced every 10,000miles all the way to now at 80,000. If you have had a listen to the engine from cold in idle and it sounds alright and the turbo whistles fine and doesn't make a noise then i think everything should be ok. Just to ask what diesel is it 2.0 or 2.2?

My 55 20L D4D plate has done 94000 miles and except for regassing the a/c, no problems to date and runs like new :D

We bought a '98 GS TD with well over 160k miles on it last Oct & 6 months later it only needed a bulb & a new tyre to pass the MoT.

It's running sweet & I can't believe it's still the original engine in it...

I suspect it's been used as a taxi at some stage cos of the higher than average mileage.

It didn't come with any service history so am currently trying to decide whether to go for cambelt replacement or not...

Sounds like all have answered your doubts on the Avensis. I second all of them. It is a good car, well built. Keep it serviced, and it will not let you down. I have never regretted buying one. ENJOY !!.
