    HEV to EV?

Mark, I’m nearly 89. We used tyo regularly take our caravan to France until Covid struck. Have since given up caravanning, but still hope to take the C-HR to France next year, but this time renting holiday accommodation. Happy with a HEV - would not consider anything else, other than changing back to ICE powered vehicle.
  3. FWIW I used a Holts repair bottle on the wheel of our wheel barrow where the tyre had perished so badly it had started leaking through a gazillion cracks. 10 years later it still holds air. Value I say!

  8. Thanks for the feedback. I can confirm that this happens at more than one location (i.e. not just at home). From memory I think we had the 12v battery replaced only a couple of years ago. Is there any DIY way of checking the health of the battery? If it needs to be replaced again, is this something that could be done at Halfords or Kwik Fit?
  9. +1 for the 12v battery.
  10. The Milenco lock (previously marketed as 4Tress) is easy to use and should deter an opportunist thief. It's easy to apply/remove and doesn't leave any marks on the steering wheel. I'd also look into fitting an aftermarket alarm with a battery back-up. I'd consider a pedal box if there was one on the market that fitted the Aygo's pedals securely.

    2024 v1 Map Update Available

I had a similar issue, the default Mac extractor corrupted the download. I downloaded Unarchiver tool and downloaded the map update again. I did get a message suggesting a problem but the zip file was still sat in the downloads folder this time and I used the Unarchiver tool to unzip the files. As I didn't bother with the previous 2023 update I wondered if that may cause a problem with jumping to the 2024 v2 version (I'm driving through France/Netherlands/Germany in June so thought it wise to update to the latest as a backup to Waze). No issues at all just the usual 75 odd minute load time sat in the car reading my Kindle.

Steering wheel crook lock device for Aygo X

About 4 years ago, a neighbour parked their new Fiesta ST on the road outside (quiet cul-de-sac). At around 11am on a Saturday morning, a thief broke the driver's door window, and used an OBD device to drive the car away. Less than 3 minutes. Car never recovered.
  13. Over the years I used steering wheel locks, road wheel lock, window etching and approved aftermarket alarms. The steering and road wheel locks come in various shapes, sizes and prices and also length of time to fit, so depends how easy fit or bulky you happy to live with. As mentioned it only a deterrant, so if 'they' want it then you can only do so much. I'm proof of that cos back in the day even with alarm, steering wheel lock, face off stereo, I still had my car broken into, but they didn't steal the car so count my blessings. My favourite security device was our 2 dogs in our motorcaravan, even scared me a few times they were so stealthy!

Holts make tyre repair kits in a variety of sizes based on wheel size. They are reasonably priced at your local motor factor

    HEV to EV?

As above HEV is the only solution to me (apart from staying with petrol) as although retired i do long journeys in this country and around Europe...imagine trying to get from Preston to Malaga in an electric vehicle that the stress of working out charging points in France Spain etc. I am glad i am 61 as EV's will never work for me apart from when the time comes i need an electric mobility scooter.🤣

Steering wheel crook lock device for Aygo X

I think if a car theft wants the car they are going to take it all anyone can do is make it harder to take Alarms aren't much good no one takes any notice when they go off The longer a theft takes to get the car the more chance they'll get caught so any method of protection Will help I have got a thick chain and padlock And put it through the steering wheel and round the clutch pedal On my classic car it won't stop it being taken but it will slow a theft down

Hello Paul - welcome to Toyota Owners Club
  19. Some years ago there was a fuss in the papers over Defence misappropriation of funds. The Commander at NAS Yeovilton was allocated a White Mondeo. He didn't want white and ordered it resprayed Maroon. I remember he was in the poo, but not how deep. At the same time my boss was allocated Maroon one and would have been quite happy with White. He kept the Maroon 😆

    Corolla (2019 onwards) spare wheel

And theres me wanting the space saver out so I can put another 12V battery in there for parking mode on my dashcams. Can anyone recomenda good tyre puncture repair kit in place of the wheel? Thank you.
  21. Hi am Paul I have owned a 2013 Toyota estima hybrid for just under 2 years now and it's been a great car lots of room for the kids

OBD port is the weakest link - straight in & away in under a minute with the right equipment 😉 As for the relay theft method you mentioned, most vehicle manufacturers have overcome that theft method now on newer products.
  23. My step-son used to do similar. He worked for a friend who ran a small dealership specialising in classic, luxury and sports cars, and would be sent off all over the country to auction sites and other dealers to drop off and collect cars. He got to drive some very exotic vehicles for a 21-22 year old!
  24. My display tells me the phone numver, nit the person because the ni.vers in my telephone phonebook all have +44 in front of them, but the networks caller display sending the number of the incoming caller without the +44 in front of it so the car doesnt equate the number to a name. I dont ever remember having this issue on the old auris. Anyone know any way to fix this other than to remove the country code from all my contacts phone numbers? Thank you.
  25. Back to hitch hikers, or anyone in difficulty. I am very cautious about offering help to a female, especially late at night. Not so bad if my wife is with me, but if I am alone there is the risk of misinterpretation of intent. Depending on the apparent seriousness of the situation, in a worst case scenario I would probably call 999, explain the position, and then say that I am staying close by to keep watch until the emergency service(s) arrive. I was with my wife when we once came across a young woman in a broken down vehicle late at night, and on a dark, lonely stretch of road. I told her we would park close by, and wait until help arrived. She managed to contact a relative (brother, I think) and he turned up about twenty minutes later. Thanks were expressed, and we departed in the satisfying knowledge that we hadn’t left a young woman open to danger.
