Hi all, I'm looking for a brake booster/servo unit for my Hiace Commuter LH71 (2.4L diesel). Having trouble finding this part so I thought id ask the fine folks on this forum. Ive searched ebay and online part stores. Ive almost always found parts this way, its not usually much of a problem to get them, but this brake servo seems a little trickier. Can anyone recommend where I might look? Im in Australia btw.

Mine is the same. I play youtube app through my car via bluetooth. When I turn the ignition on, within a few seconds the car connects to my phone and the phone shows Toyota Touch connected, so able to use handsfree phone etc. But then I usually have to open the phone, and then press play on the youtube video to start the music playing. I usually have a playlist stored on my youtube account that I start playing music from and I have youtube premium so no ads get played, just plays through each song on the playlist as long as the phone has 4G signal. But when I turn the car off and the phone disconnects from bluetooth, even if I am only getting petrol, and then start the car back up again, more often than not, the app will require me to open the phone and press play on the video again to restart playback. However, sometimes, if I open the app in my house and select a song to start playing, and then lock the phone, then go out to the car, turn the engine on, within 10 seconds, the music will start playing without me having to open the phone and press play on the video. It is entirely random, sometimes it will start playing the video if the app is open and the phone is locked, but other times, it wont, and I have to unlock the phone and press play on the video. I have never understood why it sometimes plays automatically, but other times it doesnt. Phone is a Motorola G30 on Android 12, car is a late 2014 (64) with Touch 2 head unit.

I'm expecting to stop driving in the next few years and this MK3, while not perfect, is fine for now. Nothing I've read here about the MK4 makes me want it. Handling - don't care. MPG - at 2-3k miles a year, don't care. Looks - don't really care, but I'm not a fan. If I had to get another car, if this one was totaled for example, I really don't know what I'd get. I already use buses quite a bit (we are lucky that way) so quite possibly a taxi if the bus didn't work for a particular trip. (For holidays I already use bus and either NX to get to Heathrow or train to Gatwick, so no change there 🙂 )

Are you asking if it is a legal requirement to have it connected and working?

Hmm. But it connects on Bluetooth if he logs in to the phone. My MK3 seems to be less fussy. Audio from a music player or the (Google) navigation (and I've turned off the 'Android auto' on the phone) both just get passed to the car audio. It's friggin confusing with all these options and versions.

When I saw the box that mine came with, I asked if I could have the leather wallet back that I had passed to the dealer with my partex car. No problem and I will be hanging on to it from now on!

I am 75 years young and, having driven some exotic Rally Machinery and Race cars in another life long ago, I think that the standard Yaris is a great drive and handles better than most people might first think!

During 2022 i spent months working with Toyota Uk to get Multimedia / built-in Wifi unit working on the Prius with toyota uk website, so you could actually initialise a wifi virtual sim for your car. During this time I began to lose confidence with the built in systems , which became increasingly isolated over time if you wished to use alternatives like AA or Carplay as your main “internet” connection. More frustration this year as TM over radio was disabled (MY19 units does not use the new system) So that leads me to todays gripe… I am by nature a completionist, so even though i use Carplay i like to keep my Toyota Internal maps up to date …. So imagine my surprise when i went to run OTA map updates for UK / France when i get the message “OTA update subscription expired please login to MyT to update settings and register for updates” yes it did say MyT sorry that is cow poop, my account HAS registered, in fact i am mid PCP (2 out of 4) so no worries there then. The implementation on the MY20 Prius with an MY19 head unit has always been flaky and this is just another of many many examples. don't even get me started on MyT(oyota) being stuck in “trial” mode for 2 years so i cant even see my 12v status (yes seriously) Dear Mr/Ms Toyota please don't concentrate on this years model because its “shiny” and “new” for the 3 ppl that bought it. SORT OUT your loyal customer issues I guess i made the right decision to abandon internal mulimedia/sat nav and buy a wired/wireless converter (carlinkit v5) and use TomTomGo on my iphone with monthly updates to maps and have music streamed with zero delay … perhaps my nextmodel will be a base rather than a top of the range… or even not toyota (shock horror after 18 years ownership) at the end of the day if your supplier cant be bothered to support customers you will move elsewhere or buy a significantly detuned model oh and don't forget in 2025 “safety” featured become mandatory… so owning a 2020 / 2019 / 2016 Prius Gen4 would be desire-able so even more important to keep up to date

Yes, 'inherited' one from in laws (borrowed it for a holiday, then father in law mounted his time trial bike on the wall instead and didn't want the carrier back cos it's effing huge and he puts his ridiculously expensive two wheelers inside the car when transporting anyway). Works fine mounted to Toyota "factory issue" towbar, no wobbles etc.

It's definitely the PCS - I've done some tests with it off including some aggressive cuts and not a peep from the system, and it also stops the false-positive BRAKE! alerts and random AEB triggering. But I just can't bring myself to turn if off permanently since it has saved us from a very real chance of a collision a couple of times. For a while I was turning it off in the morning just to get out of my road, which is where the vast majority of the incidents occurred, then turning it back on, but it was a faff so now I just drive a bit slower and forgo tighter gaps I'd normally take in favour of spending more time waiting for bigger ones. In a way, the system is working - By putting my life in danger repeatedly it's made me drive more cautiously for those specific scenarios re. the rear dashcam, tbh I never got round to it and eventually forgot about it It didn't help that I ended up sending back the dual-cam due to power-on issues when the car was parked in the sun, causing it to overheat and lock up and requiring me to pull and re-insert the cable while driving to get it to work! I returned it to Viofo and they sent me 2 front-facing ones instead at my request as I'd lost faith in the duals. Gotta say I rate Viofo's customer service very highly; They were quick to respond, and didn't try and fob me off for the exchange when their initial attempts to work around the issue didn't work. You don't usually expect that from Chinese companies, but they've definitely distinguished themselves. Yes I believe a combination of the radar and camera pod is used for the longer ranges.

Hi Jeff, black smoke coming out of your exhaust when you accelerate is a sign of incomplete combustion. This could be caused by a clogged air filter as it can restrict airflow to the engine, causing it to run rich and produce black smoke. Replacing the air filter is a inexpensive. The EGR valve recirculates a small amount of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold.This helps reduce combustion. A faulty EGR valve can cause black smoke by allowing too much unburnt fuel into the exhaust. Faulty fuel injectors can deliver too much fuel or create an uneven spray pattern. This can also lead to incomplete combustion and black smoke. If your RAV4 has a turbocharger, problems with it can cause black smoke. A leaking turbo seal can allow oil to enter the intake system, which will burn and create black smoke. If you are unable to check these items yourself then it would be better to ask a mechanic or book it into a Toyota dealer. Hope this helps.

@+Steve @MikeSh I agree that Android Auto and Carplay can be set to start a music app of connected by wire or wireless(depends on model) but the OP asked about a Bluetooth connection only. In that case the system will see the phone as a store of MP3 files (or other formats) and display the files for playing by headunit. The other cars may be configured to use AA or Appleplay with this phone while this one is only using Bluetooth.

I believe you're thinking of the proactive driving assistance setting.

The standard gen4 Yaris is an excellent little car, am very happy with it. I had the gen3 Yaris hybrid and wasn't so happy with that apart from it being a hybrid. When I need a bigger car, will likely skip the YC and go for a used Chr 2.0 excel.

Somehow would doubt anyone has. Probably everyone will say get a more powerful car if that is what u want.
