Hi, I have a Noah Townace/liteace camper van, it's a 1997 import, diesel automatic and the speedometer has suddenly started to become intermittent. When the speedometer reads zero, the odometer is also not working, however when the speedometer does work, so does the odometer. I've googled it and most posts I've read seem to suggest the sensor, I don't think I have a cable drive but could be wrong. I'm hoping someone out there may know? Which ever it is I'd need a part number so I can order a new part. As it's an import and an old model, my local Toyota dealer can't help, as they can't get the manual on their computers, I've had this problem with them for other parts I've needed. Can anyone help?

I have a feeling the early Jap built ones from 1999 - 2001 had a metal tank and the later french built ones had a plastic tank. I know when I had my Mk1 (1999 T reg) it had more of a problem with the filler pipe between the tank and the filler flap rusting through and having to be replaced by the time the car was about 11 years old. Perhaps the filler necks were better protected from road spray from the rear wheel on the French built Mk1, but the Jap built early Mk1 had no protection at all and was highly likely to corrode through - both the filler pipe and the breather pipe that ran up along side it to the filler flap. Mine rusted through right at the top of the wheel arch where all the mud collected round it.

Welcome back "Aygostu"......And what a little cracker you have bought! I remember your last Aygo as I was always a bit jealous of the level of trim, fun roof, leather and a fab colour! Your new one is in my favourite mark 2 colour but you are right, get the rear windows tinted as it will be even better! It's great to have you back on the site (Albeit with a new name 😉) and I look forward to see what you do and having a few chats with you. All the very best, Stuart and have loads of fun in your new motor.

2014 Auris Mk2 Radio/Sat Nav Head Unit Swap Like for Like

Ack that sucks... I wonder what caused it?? -
If yours is like mine, plugging it into a computer just shows the contents of the SD card. With most cameras you can only change the settings via its built-in menu, or an app, or more rarely a WiFi web interface.

I would say these type of jobs are best done as diy if you can or by a mechanic who has worked on these cars and know how. It’s nothing so special but there are some important steps and things that needs to be done exactly. Hete an example of what we are talking about.

You should get a renewal letter a month or so before it expires, but if you prefer a different recovery firm or can get similar cover from insurance/bank/work etc you can change.

2014 Auris Mk2 Radio/Sat Nav Head Unit Swap Like for Like
roks replied to PEL2112UK's topic in Auris Club
all of a sudden my touch 2 & Go would not come on, found a blown 20A fuse for the radio, replaced it but lost the Bluetooth and maps. Looks like the satnav module had failed/died, looks like I am going to need a replacement unit too. -
12v battery maintenance, issues, etc.
Derek.w replied to FROSTYBALLS's topic in Yaris & Yaris Cross Club
Yes Graham47 I fitted a Yuasa battery but I have removed it to cary out a reconditioning desulphation on it when I have time after setting up my solar charger I will refit it. As you can see the battery in not dead just not good at holding a charge under a small car hibination mode. Maybe you like to see a daily brakedown of a number of small trips. Note no voltage drop to 12 volts on the first stop start set. -

As I've mentioned previously, our Yaris has the same dashcam, and that records over the oldest videos when the card is filled. I've now also realised that to delete files, I have to remove the SD card and using a card adapter, plug it into my PC. I need to access the camera settings and can't connect with my phone, I assume I can plug my Laptop directly into the camera and change settings that way ? I shall try tomorrow.

As said before, when the car is stationary, and especially if you haven't got the footbrake applied, then it does kick a bit as the engine is started. Shouldn't be noticeable when travelling. You need to be specific about exactly what the conditions are when any given symptom occurs. The ICE goes on or off in many different scenarios.

Varies - depending which Toyota you have.

That's what I was told when I bought my Yaris second hand from the dealer.
-
Am I right in thinking the Toyota assist only lasts for 1 year from date of purchase and I have to organise my own breakdown service after that..?

Where would someone go to have this jobs done? Since the dealership wasnt bothered by it I guess I would need to go some place else.. Would I need to find a regular mechanic that has extensive knowledge of Toyota cars?

Paranoid about used Yaris Hybrid
allanmcfish replied to allanmcfish's topic in Yaris & Yaris Cross Club
Interesting! Thank you for sharing this. Are there maybe other symptoms that might be caused by this dumper plate? I'm thinking for example about the 'kick' that I feel most of the times the ICU turns on. -
12v battery maintenance, issues, etc.
Derek.w replied to FROSTYBALLS's topic in Yaris & Yaris Cross Club
The down drop to around the 12 volt mark is because of the small capacity battery Mutlu 35Ah & a lot of short trips for my tipical day.
