    Accident Damage

I’ve booked it in for paintwork ( bumper corner ) to be re-sprayed ( £180 ), plus ordered some gloss touch-up paint for the grille. Hopefully, job done. 🤞🏼 Thanks for all the comments. 👍👍

TBH, the horn isn’t that bad. It’s the wife’s car, so I’m not tooting and hiding most of the time. 😳
  4. AndrueC

    Confusion

Hmm, it shouldn't do that. Speed limits lapse after about 200 yards so when you've driven that distance without another sign the car should revert to whatever the normal limit is on that road. My '19 Corolla does that so it sounds like a backward step for the newer models. Unfortunately from reading about the legislation it looks like this technology is here to stay. If it was accurate it would rarely bother me but in my '19 Corolla at least it just isn't.

    Accident Damage

Ours doesn’t have the active cruise control, so no radar to worry about. 👍

    Cheap Avensis Estate ?

I don't see the reasoning of "only 4k miles per year" and "want a petrol". I have two diesels, one does 2k and the other does maybe 3k per year. I have owned one (Smart) for 8 years and the Citroen for about 5. It is the fourth C3 I have had, all diesel and all doing the same mileage approximately. No significant problems with any of them.

    Confusion

Agreed. I'm just hoping that by the time Toyota start selling a sold-state BEV alternative to my Corolla they have heard the complaints and provided a way to turn this crap off.

    Bluetooth Connection on Yaris

What do you mean "log in to the phone"? Once you've paired the phone to the car, if you leave Bluetooth enabled on your phone, it should connect a few seconds after turning the car on.

Constant Humming coming from throttle car won’t start

Check the EFI fuse and check every connection you may have touched when you did the cleaning. Make sure the MAF sensor is connected. The MAF sensor should only be cleaned with MAF cleaner! Check all the hoses are secured back in place. I assume the engine is the Valvematic variant. The throttle fully opens in operation if Valvematic, then varies position depending on driving conditions. I have read somewhere long ago, not to force the throttle open against the motor when cleaning! This could damage the gears in the throttle body motor! Hopefully something small as a not properly connected item could stop the car from starting.

Your wife won't notice it, save yourself the hassle 😜

    Driver Monitor

Did you have any further info on how to get to the 'hidden menu', I can turn off the monitor which stops all the notifications when i'm look out of the side winder etc.🤫 But I still get the warnings if I lock the view of the camera.

Gearbox Oil For T27 TOYOTA AVENSIS 1.8

I changed mine a few weeks back with Toyota fluid and it’s made a massive improvement and got rid of the notch from first to second

    Accident Damage

And if you do go down the route of the bumper coming off, then I'd take the opportunity to upgrade the horn, because I'm just guessing that it's probably like "Noddy's" horn !! Just not sure why Toyota scrimp when it comes to horns nowadays. When I had my new Aygo X, that was the first job I did and I upgraded the horn to the one that was in the new Rav4s, made a difference. Luckily I did this on a hot day and I was just about able to do it by loosening the front wheel arch and removing one of the fog lights and just about got my hand in. And if I get the chance, I'll be replacing the rubbish horn in my Yaris Cross, it's absolutely ridiculous. But I just don't fancy taking that bumper off !!

Gearbox Oil For T27 TOYOTA AVENSIS 1.8

I have driven automatic Toyota's for Well Over 200K Miles without ever changing the transmission fluid. And never a problem the oil Maybe black but it act like a cooler not as a lubricate because of that its can be life time with no need to change it never but you can change it if you board or try to find things to fix (like me sometimes). its better not to touch it.

T25 vs T27 petrol avensis estate

I had a t25 1,6 (2004 sedan manual), 14600km when I bought it and 375tkm when sold. Only "big" job was the right front wheel bearing. Before that there was a T22 1,6 sedan manual (2001), but that's a different story. Now I drive T27 1,8 valvematic (2009 estate manual) and so far there has been one big job: valvematic controller (355tkm). And many minor issues like starter motor, rattling front calipers, etc That T25 has been the most reliable Avensis to me. The valvematic 1,8 engine has more power but in normal driving I feel no difference between 1,6vvti and 1,8 valvematic. Vmatic consumes less? Low rev torque is poor in Vmatic.

T25 vs T27 petrol avensis estate

I was fortunate to compare my current T27 Avensis 1.8 Tourer TR ('58 plate 2009) with my friends when he owned a T25 1.8 Tourer TR '57 plate. The biggest advantage of the T27 is cruise control and 6 speed manual gearbox. Being the later model, gives slight advantage in condition of the car depending how it has been used and cared for!
  19. Does anyone know how to to connect Bluetooth in a way that when you start the car the blutooth connection connects and plays music. Seems every time I get in the car (Wifes motor) that I have to log in to the phone and then the bluetooth conncts then music plays. It's fine when the phone locks itself whilst playing. I assume I have to tell the phone (Samsung S23 Ultra) to trust the connection. I have come across this before but have forgotten 2018 Yaris

    Confusion

Agreed, I don’t have a smart phone! I’m not interested in buying one. My mobile must be 20 years old and is PAYG, and not used much. On my 2019 car, the over speed warning is set to visual only because it reads the signs wrongly a lot of the time. It’s not the cars fault but the signage! Go past a school and there’s a 20 sign BUT no sign at the end of the “recommend” limit so for the rest of the town driving the car thinks it’s in a 20 zone. 👹

    Harsh acceleration

As a veteran of a speed awareness course AND three points the following year, I tend not to do any ripping up anymore, I don’t want another ripping up…..of my licence.
  22. Isn't it radar based for the longer ranges?

    4wd issues

Hi so my 94 surf engages into 4H fine from 2H but going into Low range i don’t get the 4wd light when pressed also the engine revs without moving the wheels. Then trying to go back to High range it grinds and won’t let me in unless i turn the engine off and select it.

    Paint quality

I live in a “hard water area”, and I mean HARD. If you didn’t leather (remember that) the car after cleaning it was covered in white spots. We now have a water softener resulting in silky smooth skin and just a towel dragged over the rinsed car for and excellent finish.

    Accident Damage

If you change the bumper you’ve got the radar to deal with. Like the others, I’d patch it up first then go to stage 2 if you or the mrs can’t live with it.
