    TTE Spoiler

TTE no longer exist, it's now all TRD or GR https://www.burrowscarparts.co.uk/toyota-avensis-tourer-2015-onwards-roof-spoiler-pz495-t5470-ab.html I would confirm stock tho, its a lot of money too there seem to be 2 versions under the same part number, 2010-11 is when TTE closed http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/10052e6f-aef3-4f67-83f9-210dcc139069/Avensis_Roof_spoiler_PZ495_T5470_AB_AIM_003_417_0.pdf the early Toyota Motorsport spoiler http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/{42832BA9-2417-04E0-BF6A-F19844322417}/PZ495-T5470-AB.pdf

Road Sign Assist speed limit beeping

But you can permanently turn off the default LOUD beep at each speed limit zone change thankfully. I was sooo much happier after I found that option. I think if you turn the setting to the lowest one, which I think is No Audible or Visual, it'll reenable itself to both on next start. Just set it to Visual Only, and it'll stay that way (until the EU change the rules again).
  4. Yep. Its this. For the 1mph over speed limit for whatever signpost it saw last. For the 2024 at least. I don't mind a warning when I need to be warned, and I drive sensibly, but it sees signs incorrectly way too often, so its a distraction, and gets ignored, which makes it pointless, and equally infuriating. If I'm alone in the car with music on, I don't really hear/notice it much. But if I'm transporting passengers, I end up turning off the whole RSA system, because they get annoyed too and ask why its beeping, and I can't switch the mode to visual-only unless I remember to do it when the car is stopped. Gonna cause an accident for someone, in some car, at some point. I might start a new craze of displaying a large national speed limit sign on the back of my car, in the hope that it catches on, and we can all drive around with our cars seeing the car in front as the max limit, so we get no more distracting beeps /s

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

No, and yes! The Design is effectively the "everyman" spec - it's got pretty much everything that you really need but not everything that your heart might desire. The Icon was the entry level grade for the 4.5 but has since been discontinued, so the 'cheapest' grade that one can order today is the Design. There are, effectively, three grades: Design Excel - Design with more 'toys' Dynamic or GR-Sport - Design with more 'style'

    TTE Spoiler

I just bought myself a family wagon (2014 avensis 2.2 D-cat) and really want to sharpen the looks on it. I have been hunting all over the web and at scrapyards for a TTE spoiler and they seem impossible to find one. If anyone has a clue about where to get one or if someone wants to sell me one please tell me 😄 According to Toyota dealers here in Norway the part is discontinued. Part number: PZ495-T5470-AB

    Black Smoke, non Running.

Hi Mark, failing to rev and billowing black smoke points towards a fuel delivery or air intake issue. A clogged fuel filter, a dirty fuel filter can restrict fuel flow and cause black smoke. Replacing the fuel filter might be a simple solution. Faulty fuel njectors, you mentioned one injector was replaced, but there could be an issue with other injectors as well. They could be faulty or clogged. Consider getting a fuel injector cleaning service done or replacing the injectors altogether. Fuel pump,a failing fuel pump wouldn't deliver enough fuel pressure, causing the engine to run poorly and smoke.A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing a rich fuel mixture more fuel, less air and black smoke. ensure the air filter is clean. Mass air flow sensor, A malfunctioning MAF sensor can send incorrect signals to the engine computer, also causing improper air fuel mixture and black smoke. Since a mechanic and auto electrician couldn't diagnose the issue, consider taking your car to a Toyota dealership or a mechanic specialising in Toyotas. They might have a better understanding of these engines and the specific problems they encounter.Hope this helps.

    2.0 hybrid judder /missfire

Toyota has been using this on corolla since 2019 and I believe 2017 on camry hybrids... D4S is what the system is called I think.

    New Yaris vs Honda Jazz

Thanks Don you saved me a lot of typing, I test drove a Jazz Cross star after buying my Yaris Cross and have to say your post sums it up, I came away regretting my decision to buy a YC the Jazz is a cut above the YC, one thing let the Jazz down, lack of passenger seat height adjustment, the boss wasn't happy
  10. Hello from Norway! I just joined this forum after buying my 2nd Toyota. A 2014 Avensis 2.2 D-cat ( already had an Auris 2.0 d-4d ). Looking forward to learn more about and share experiences with like minded people 😄 - Fus

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

Is Design the entry level spec? Wasn't sure if it's that or Icon. But yes, it's a bit of a squeeze finding one in budget 😬 I just think it's 'more car' than a Skoda Karoq (even though they seem perfectly good) for not a lot more money - plus historical scepticism re VAG group cars in general. Re switching away from BEV, it's mainly cost - for the same budget I can get a Niro but we need something slightly bigger and that quickly becomes out of budget, plus the whole EV market volatility at the moment means it's a risk. Seems mainly linked to fears over battery longevity - what will it be worth once the car hits the ends of the battery warranty? Range practicalities are also a minor consideration - we like long road trips and with the best will in the world, an EV does require more planning/time for charging - it's just easier with a hybrid which doesn't have that limitation. Ideally I'd have a PHEV RAV4 since we already have a charging point installed at home but they're too pricey.

    Black Smoke, non Running.

Good afternoon. I own a 2010 Rav 4 2ltr D. 77k miles. Two months ago it cut out whilst driving, and failed to restart, it would only belch out clack smoke. It has since been in the local garage (not Toyota) and they have now given up after trying lots of things. Changed one injector, cleaned DPF, and a few other things. Car will now start and turn over, but not rev, and still belches lots of black smoke. I have also had an auto electrician look at it, but is also scratching his head. Everyone agrees, the car and engine appear in good condition, but just not working. Any ideas? Regards Mark

    Adjusting my headlights (and dips?)

No,he adjusted both sideways and vertical from what I could see(I was with him) There were 4 screws he moved ,whereas I had only adjusted one on each side (2 in all) I think the testers know them well and they have a sign up for "pre nct" checkups. They would get a very bad name if they were to blame and so I think there must be something inside the lights themselves that needs fixing. The tester was not surprised that this had happened but I don't think he is allowed to comment on the mechanics of the car per se.

    Toyota mapping vs Android Auto

I've tried google, Waze and TomTom. The mapping and re-routing on GM is good but the speed camera alerts not so good (don't judge😁). Waze has useful info and good camera alerts but I don like not being able to chose whether to take an alternative route if delays are encountered. It regularly sends me all over the place and I'm convinced it will only have save a couple of minutes. I've now settled on the TomTom app because its alerts and rerouting options are good. I'm also familiar with it from satnavs in the past. It's only a few quid a year on deals but obviously costs more than GM or Waze. I've not played with the inbuilt satnav much yet but will give it a go. A pain not being able to import all my contacts though. Is there a way to do it that I have missed?

Road Sign Assist speed limit beeping

Correct - that appears to be the case. You can switch back to visual warning only, but you'd have to do so, explicitly, at the start of each trip.

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

The warranty is effectively for twelve months / 10,000 miles after each service by a Toyota dealer up to 10 years / 100,000 miles whichever comes first. In practice, it is probably good for up to 110,000 miles if you were to time the last service 'perfectly'. To be sure of AA / ACP you'd need to be looking at 2020 models and later - it's a bit of a lottery for 2019 models. And the rest you pretty much know. Having lurked around here 'forever' I'm not aware of any mileage related weaknesses. A quick look at Autotrader suggests that you'll be pushed to get what you want within budget. And even at £18k you'd probably have to settle for a Design spec. But then, rhetorically, why do you think these cars hold their value quite so well? 😉 Out of idle curiosity, why the switch from BEV in your case?

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

That's a good point, I'd heard that Toyota now offer a 10yr warranty although if the limit is 100k miles then I might not have that warranty for a lot longer after purchase 🙂 Presumably the warranty is only valid if serviced by Toyota and not 3rd party? Edit - also worth getting Toyota MD servicing for the 15-year hybrid battery cover.

High mileage 5th gen buying advice?

High mileage shouldn't be a problem, but for added security I would purchase from a Toyota dealer. You'll get a 12month warranty every time it's serviced, until it's 10 yrs old or done 100,000 miles. The warranty will still apply wherever you bought it. As long as Toyota service it. In the US they would consider a car with 75,000 mile on the clock, just about run in. We have a 2020 model, it has voice control of the navigation even without the Android Auto.

    locking using key fob

Most Toyota and Lexus owners who can lock their car by touching door handle will l know this, but for those who don't . If when locking the car you hold the Lock button and press the Unlock button twice. You can only unlock the car using the key fob. Just a bit of extra security. (I'm sure someone will say this has been discussed before, but I did search) 😜
