    Accident Damage

If you change the bumper you’ve got the radar to deal with. Like the others, I’d patch it up first then go to stage 2 if you or the mrs can’t live with it.

    Yaris won't accelerate sometimes

It’s the first I’ve seen of this thread. It sounds like the behaviour of traction control. If anyone can replicate the problem, try it with the traction control off. Cykes, did you sort your rear dash cam out.
  4. As a retired controls engineer I'm going to say that intent, design and reality are rarely coincident until experience is applied. The problem being that it takes time and testing to get there and with the pace of change these days neither time or testing gets a look in early enough. One reason my MK3 may well be my last car.

    Harsh acceleration

My 2p worth I love the power mode in my 2.0 GR Sport. I may have picked up a photo from a yellow box on the side of the road as I accelerated past some slow moving traffic. In a few weeks, I’ll know if I won the prize of a few points on my license

  12. Hi, I spoke to the app team, even they couldn’t find out the problem, as all my details are correct but still not my mobile number verified . They said they ring me the next day to see what’s going on.

    Advice on Ancient Corolla

I though cars had to be 40 years old before they were considered 'classics' - or is that just for road tax purposes?! Have been looking for a similar one .... no joy so far ☹️ Thank you all so much for your input .... Much to consider. I'll let you know what the final decision is - although given my legendary inability to make decision it could be a while 😉 ...

    Paint quality

Car paint has certainly become softer since the introduction of waterborne paints forced by VOC regulations. My four-month-old Corolla has several light scratches (most of them caused by sloppy SupaGuard application at the dealership) but no noticeable stone chips as yet. My car is Scarlet Flare, which is one of the pearlescent paint options. I wonder if pearlescent paints might be a little thicker than the non-pearlescent colours, which is why stone chips haven’t reared their ugly base coat heads yet. My tip for minimising the risk of light scratches introduced during hand washing is using deionised water to rinse the car after shampooing with a quality microfibre mitt. Deionised water (I buy reverse osmosis water from a local aquatics shop - 3 pounds for 25 litres) removes all water marks without the need for a drying with a towel. It’s a time saver too.
  18. The problem is it's not a 'problem' per se - The car is behaving exactly as it was designed to. This is why I'm always complaining about the increasing intrusiveness of the ADAS systems; IMHO they should never take control away from the driver, or if they do, have some intuitive way of overriding them quickly to avoid situations like this. The problem is the powers that be won't notice there is a problem until people start getting killed by them, and even then will initially blame the driver. It's like the Smart Motorways - They ignored or were oblivious to the massive increase in near-misses, and it wasn't until people started getting actually hurt and/or killed they started to get off their backsides, and even then they tried to blame it on drivers when it's nothing to do with that, showing they're still missing the point.

    Taxing Your Turf

There was an idea mooted a few years back suggesting that people who paved over grassed areas in their gardens would have to pay extra on their council tax or water bill( can’t remember) due to water run off adding to the problem of flooding, nothing has come of it so I think the idea of raising council tax if you have a large garden, will go the same way.
  24. That’s probably why mine didn’t pick up the stopped car at the end of the slip road exit when I was testing it.
