    Starting Problems On Avensis? Solution.

Starting problems ..success ! Very pleased . I followed the picture’s & instructions on here , re changing the worn ignition switch , as when I turned the key to start … silence / nothing . I replaced the relay & thought I’d cured it , but no. So today i changed the ignition switch ( eBay £17:99)problem solved !! . the only tricky part was the upper retaining screw , as it’s hard to reach & get too .you have to be very careful not to drop & lose the screw . One trick is to insert the key and jiggle it about to properly locate the switch , before !Removed! it in tight .. the post on here is great & helped loads & saved a big garsge bill

    Confusion

Yeah. My '19 still only has 35k miles on it so I'm thinking I'll hang on to it for as long as petrol is still available at the pumps.

    2012 Yaris a/c pipe leak

At the risk of sounding daft, can you tell us exactly what pipe you are referring to? The aircon system has two obvious 'pipes' both of which connect to the compressor and both of which carry the same refrigerant as it circulates around. Is it like an oily leak you see? or do you mean something else.

    Yaris cross horn

Totally get that, but I'm sure the horn in the RAV4 and the Land cruisers also meet those legal requirements, so I'll have the horn that the Land cruiser has 😂

    Yaris cross horn

Not to annoy you 😉. The pip squeak horn meets legal requirements and the additional sounder meets the requirements for the alarm/immobiliser as long as it can utilise the pip squeak. I would think Thatcham are behind that.

    Car seems to be sliding

what is the make, model and date on the side of the tyre ? when you say new tyres - as in brand new just fitted? if it is on its originals they may have just gone hard with age - the compound after 4-5 years starts to degrade if the car is driven 20-30 mph only locally, the tyres have never got hot and may have squared off, a motorway run and get some heat in them tyres it will also do the car some good to get it hot and the fluids flowing
  10. Better than that. Our junction markings had been reset about 5 years ago but in the process the old markings remained. They returned in January and refreshed the old markings, the new and the old. The white line ran through a pot hole. Two weeks later the whole junction was resurfaced. At least the new markings are correct. They will also repair a reported pothole but not the one next to it.

    Yaris cross horn

So someone at Toyota went out of their way to split these two horn (sounder !!), marvellous. Thanks for that info 👍

    Yaris cross horn

    No you can’t get at the horn without taking the bumper off because the air intake blocks your path. The alarm is much louder because it uses a second sounder. I’ll find you a photo. Stand by….. This is the feeble single vibrating disc; and this is the second one down under the passenger headlight;

    Engine bay fuel leak

Hi Thanks for that, il definitely keep an eye on it. It's never been serviced as it's only done under 300 miles. Thanks for your help.

    Engine bay fuel leak

Engine oil usually smells like fuel and this can trick you, definitely not a fuel as fuel is far away from the solenoid. Down the intake manifold and can’t reach further up. 👍

    Flat battert

the Mk4 Yaris, as well as the E210 Corolla both, use LN type batteries which are calcium-flooded cells - technology marches on https://www.gs-yuasa.com/en/newsrelease/article.php?ucode=gs160315422530_238 the sos/fully connected services (DCM) didn't come in till late 18/19 in the rolla and 2020 on (mk4 Yaris) touch2 gen1 and 2, connected services was data over a phone connection which have all been but abandoned

    Engine bay fuel leak

That’s not fuel for sure but oil spill from service. Just clean with quality brake cleaner spray safe to use on plastics like wynns or holts and wipe any excess. Check after some time and you will see no more oily marks. If it’s oil from poor seals it will be vvti solenoid, but these does not leak at all. 👍

    Engine bay fuel leak

Hi It looks to be coming from the part around that area. Looks more fuel than oil.

    Car seems to be sliding

What are the make and type of the new tyres you have had fitted, I ask because I had new continental eco tyres fitted once and the car was like I was driving on ice under certain conditions, after about 1000 miles, the grip was back to like regular tyres again.

    9” display screen

I recently used the sat nav for the first time since buying the car in 2024. The audio instructions were good and after I worked out “how” to adjust the volume, it worked fine. My concern is the Route Guidance Picture - the route was shown as a very thin line and when approaching a junction, it remained just a thin line very difficult to see or follow. I saw the turns shown on the speed dial but I was expecting the 9” display screen to show an enlarged route guide when approaching the junctions/roundabouts. Is their any way I can adjust the main picture so that it enlarges, near turn points and reverts to normal as per a Garmin thereafter ? thank you

    Engine bay fuel leak

Might just be a spill from oil filler cap?

Newbie, with some queries. First Toyota

Hi everyone, hope the sun is out where you are. I have changed the Turbo Vacuum and the other one beside it, however I may have made a very basic error, I am not sure due to various distractions(my excuse) that I have attached the pipes correctly I took them off to check for leaks damage etc, but did not mark them. Does anyone have a diagram for this model ? 2013 D4D 2.2 my biggest worry is the two hoses from the turbo valve to the actuator vacuum is the one closest to the actuator or the one behind. I can report that in its current state the car is unfortunately driving much the same. Thanks

    Car seems to be sliding

It might just be the poor quality of the roads - There's a lot more spoil on the roads I regularly traverse due to all the pot holes. If you also had new tyres recently, it may also be the tracking wasn't done properly - I've been having a lot of inexplicable issues with tyre fitters in the past few years where despite having a fancy laser alignment system, they somehow smeg it up, presumably by not putting the markers on the wheels properly or not straightening the steering wheel before doing the alignment, and also having no common sense (You'd think if both wheels are out by the same amount in the same direction that would be a *massive hint* that the steering wheel isn't straight, but no they 'correct' it and are surprised when you return because you're turning the wheel right to go straight )

    Yaris cross horn

I also just tested the alarm on my YC, so that I know what to listen out for. It's just the horn that sounds, but I have noticed that when the horn is activated by the alarm, it's FAR better than when you just press the horn in the usual way. I thought it was my imagination, so I got my wife to pop out and give her opinion and it is FAR better sound, sort of like dual horn sound. If the horn sounded like that when pressing the centre of the steering wheel, I'd be happy with it.

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

My dealer is only about 7 miles from me. I know them pretty well as we’ve been taking our cars there for many years and did purchase a used Auris from them as well as my last Prius which came from the same group Our Toyota’s have included 2 Land Cruisers, 2 x Prius and one Auris So the next one will be Toyota number 6 Yes I like Toyota’s If the test drive goes well it will also be the only new car I’ve had (apart from company cars) I normally get my own coffee though as I like getting my own coffee ☕️!!
