    9” display screen

I recently used the sat nav for the first time since buying the car in 2024. The audio instructions were good and after I worked out “how” to adjust the volume, it worked fine. My concern is the Route Guidance Picture - the route was shown as a very thin line and when approaching a junction, it remained just a thin line very difficult to see or follow. I saw the turns shown on the speed dial but I was expecting the 9” display screen to show an enlarged route guide when approaching the junctions/roundabouts. Is their any way I can adjust the main picture so that it enlarges, near turn points and reverts to normal as per a Garmin thereafter ? thank you

Newbie, with some queries. First Toyota

Hi everyone, hope the sun is out where you are. I have changed the Turbo Vacuum and the other one beside it, however I may have made a very basic error, I am not sure due to various distractions(my excuse) that I have attached the pipes correctly I took them off to check for leaks damage etc, but did not mark them. Does anyone have a diagram for this model ? 2013 D4D 2.2 my biggest worry is the two hoses from the turbo valve to the actuator vacuum is the one closest to the actuator or the one behind. I can report that in its current state the car is unfortunately driving much the same. Thanks

    Car seems to be sliding

It might just be the poor quality of the roads - There's a lot more spoil on the roads I regularly traverse due to all the pot holes. If you also had new tyres recently, it may also be the tracking wasn't done properly - I've been having a lot of inexplicable issues with tyre fitters in the past few years where despite having a fancy laser alignment system, they somehow smeg it up, presumably by not putting the markers on the wheels properly or not straightening the steering wheel before doing the alignment, and also having no common sense (You'd think if both wheels are out by the same amount in the same direction that would be a *massive hint* that the steering wheel isn't straight, but no they 'correct' it and are surprised when you return because you're turning the wheel right to go straight )

    Yaris cross horn

I also just tested the alarm on my YC, so that I know what to listen out for. It's just the horn that sounds, but I have noticed that when the horn is activated by the alarm, it's FAR better than when you just press the horn in the usual way. I thought it was my imagination, so I got my wife to pop out and give her opinion and it is FAR better sound, sort of like dual horn sound. If the horn sounded like that when pressing the centre of the steering wheel, I'd be happy with it.

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

My dealer is only about 7 miles from me. I know them pretty well as we’ve been taking our cars there for many years and did purchase a used Auris from them as well as my last Prius which came from the same group Our Toyota’s have included 2 Land Cruisers, 2 x Prius and one Auris So the next one will be Toyota number 6 Yes I like Toyota’s If the test drive goes well it will also be the only new car I’ve had (apart from company cars) I normally get my own coffee though as I like getting my own coffee ☕️!!

    Yaris cross horn

Can you not some how get to that crap horn without taking off the bumper. There just seems to be a flimsy piece of plastic above where the horn is when looking at the horn from above just inside the engine bay ?

    T27 CVT bearing failure?

Hm, this perhaps can happen after an accident or whoever worked on the car. If excess force been applied when installing the drive shafts the retaining clip could break or slide off and let the shaft seat in deeper or become lose and with turning and suspension load instead of moving the inner cv joint the whole assembly moved in too much and got stuck like that causing the following problems. That’s how I can explain to myself.

    Car seems to be sliding

Ok, if all been checked and ticks all the boxes then it is likely to be the car and it’s capability. Small car with tiny tyres won’t handle as well as slightly bigger one with larger wheels tyres. Something to take into account and don’t push it too fast into corners. But if you really thing something it’s not right best to visit a dealer to test drive similar car and compare both cars. Good luck

    Car seems to be sliding

It is sliding as need to adjust the steering wheel when it happens its new tyres and the pressure has all been done as wanted to check this wasn't the issue. The car is in great condition it's a 2016 car and only done 29500 miles. It's just drove on local roads and as I have noticed its become an issue I ensure I really slow down when turning

    Messages reading out volume

Cheers, yes under “sound&media” setting “system sound” to max enables the message to be heard at same level as music. Weird they don’t lower/ pause the music while message is playing but not the end of the world. Thanks for all replies 👍

£250 it’s not a crazy price for double din headunit with built in usb, Bluetooth, or android auto and Apple car play. Check Halfords they offer some options. If you after a quality music avoid cheap Chinese brands of Aliexpress.

Check the tyre tread depth. The legal minimum is 1.6mm. If you don't have a tyre tread gauge, try the following: Tread Wear Indicators Some tyre manufacturers have incorporated handy Tread Wear Indicators (TWIs) within their products. These markers are always visible but set below the level of the original 8 mm of tyre tread. Over time, as your tyre incurs natural wear and tear, the tread depth will reduce to the point where it’s level with the TWI. At this point, it’s an easy indication that the tyre should now be changed. How to do the 20p test Use the very simple steps below to check your tyres: Simply place the coin in the main tread channels of your tyres multiple times, at various points around the tyre. If you can see any part of the outer band of the coin face, it means the tyre tread is too shallow – and probably illegal. If this is the case, it’s not only time to stop everything and replace your tyres, but it’s also vital that you do so as soon as possible. 20p test diagram "

    Confusion

For me is Corolla excel 1.8 from 2019 . The best last Toyota hybrid before the annoying safety futures and big TV screens inside. 👍

    Paint quality

The best colour for me has always been the pearlcent white although I think in recent years and degradation of everything including poor road surfaces which are a major reason for stone chips and other paint issues the best car colour is pure white. It’s often the free one plus it’s easiest to repair with touch up. Can cover with wraps if necessary and keep the car interior few degrees cooler than darker colours. Small scratches or imperfections are barely visible on white colour cars. 👍

    God and bad Tech

I watched it last night and I agreed. He could have included more extras to comment on like can bus electronics and keyless entry and the followed car thefts as a result. Connected services and flat batteries. These two are one of the most important to point to new and existing Toyota owners. I personally would have started with these. Thanks for sharing.

    Car seems to be sliding

Hi, that’s interesting. Does the car indeed slip when cornering or it’s just giving you these feelings? What is the tyres condition , how the pressure been checked and what is the general health of your car, mileage? Also where do you drive, dirt and sand , rough asphalt or nice and smooth road surfaces? There are many questions to be answered before we can suggest you something. Generally speaking the main reason for these will be worn out tyres, low or too high pressure, suspension problems, excessive speed, lose stones and sand on the road.

    Flat battert

Post 2020 (MY20) are the problem pre that “connected services” were not constantly on. left my MY19 Prius (no real connected services other than “toyota Online”) on the drive for 5 months during covid and it started up first time.

    Messages reading out volume

I was fairly sure this is determined by "Navigation Volume" under Settings -> Sound & Media At least that's how it works on mine, I have no issue hearing messages when they're read out and I do listen to music fairly loud.

    Flat battert

Post 2016 hybrids and most other cars equipped with connected services has indeed 12v battery if not used daily. Previous models without these extra electronics only had issues if you really leave the car for weeks without use or only use occasionally and for short drives. Plus many older models has an AGM type batteries which seems better suited for hybrids imo.
