Climate change is almost all about CO2 emissions. Urban pollution is almost nothing to do with CO2 emissions. ICEs produce a lot of both, but reducing the pollution from them has little effect on CO2 produced. (Conversely you could probably build one that had reduced CO2 but more pollution ... Oh, that'll be the diesel I guess.) Using the wrong argument or terminology just opens the door for the deniers - Cykers or Trumps - to mangle the facts to their advantage. You clearly understand the difference so why conflate them? If you say or write something that is wrong you confuse other people and discredit yourself.

How you describe the shaking between electric and petrol there seems to be a problem with your car. Something that upsets your engine and the shaking and vibration as a following results. Very common reason for these events are misfire caused by bad fuel or blocked egr or injector issues, or coolant entering the combustion. There are so many things that can cause this behaviour. On a car with this mileage egr system clean and including throttle body its a good idea imo.

Absolutely no problem. Members do try their best to help. If you go back to Motorpoint, it may be best to find out who is the overall manager of the site, and put something in writing to them. Given what you've said, think it would be difficult to prove mis-selling as there doesn't seem to be written information they misled you. Be polite. Stress that you were looking for a full automatic rather than what you have (a manual gearbox with automated clutch). As a fallback position, because you've been sold something different to what you were looking for, ask whether, as goodwill, they may be able to help with the repair costs.

We’re going to have to agree to disagree because the notion that excluding older vehicles from cities - all cities doesn’t work is bewildering. Charging people discourages them and we should be using the cleanest engines available. Not doing because people can’t or often won’t change to a cleaner engine is like allowing sewage and plastic to be dumped in the sea because it’s cheaper.

I know Mike but climate change is also about carbon emissions and we’ve been reckless over the years. If clean engines are available, we should be using them.

CTEK charger for low users twice or three times a week, I am finding that in the another option is solar charging if the car is outside but for how many months before I return to mains charging only time will tell for my location we just have to wait and see. I attatch picture of my last 15 days short trips & solar charging> Yes its still an ongoing project.

Following a few days working on the Yaris I can confirm the car is now on the road and drives very well, the 1.3 engine is just brilliant, the works completed include a new cat and o2 sensor, new front discs & brake pads, new brake fluid, air filters replaced, new spark plugs, oil & filter change and replaced the 2 front anti roll bar pins and 2 vacuum pipes. I would say most of the work was fairly straight forward, I'm not a professional mechanic as you might of already gathered and it did take some time figuring things out, but thankfully theirs help out there to find out what to do. I also have learned some older cars are worth saving even when they are 23 years old, they may take time and effort to repair but if you enjoy doing it the result can be very satisfying. I'm already looking for another mark one 1.3 to work on which I may keep providing I can talk the wife over, god bless her comment today was I'm glad that heap of junk has now gone😂

What? Climate change and pollution are two different issues. They may have some common contributors, such as road vehicles producing pollution and CO2, but the ULEZ is about pollution, not climate change per se.

I agree with most of what you say, but parking the street I am on the options are West or east facing. I am now just short of my target set voltage of 14.22 volts (this is adjustable so its my prefered maximum). The difficult part is setting the up the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking). Thanks for your help. As I said, have tried a water repellent but with limited success, always worth asking if anyone has found a sensible solution. It seems to me that Toyota have ( quite rightly) concentrated on the major items e.g. drive train. The car drives so well, it just has a number of ergonomic type niggles which other manufacturers have found much better implementations, so why not copy them?? Very good car, very poor documentation, as for the software.....

With the CTEK smart charger, it is not a problem to always leave it connected to the car battery and disconnect it before driving.

This confirms it has the X-Shift aka Multi Mode Transmission or MMT. This is a manual gearbox with automated clutch - sometimes described as a semi automatic. So not a full automatic or CVT

Yes, my bad, you are right. I'm just disappointed and exhausted about this.

Thanks for your help, I want the notifications, just not as beeps and/or a little tolerance e.g. get speed down within xx Yards or allow to creep over by 1 or 2 mph for a few seconds. What is particularly irritating is when it's the cruise control not keeping to the set speed.

What sound deadening pads did you use for the wheel archers? Is it weather proof? I did think of applying sound deadening to the doors but a bit concerned about removing the door cards, as I worry they will squeak.
