    Pollen Filter

I *thought* the filters were meant to sit in a cradle? When I saw a video on YouTube, that was the case? However the video above does not have a cradle either? and having looked at a few more they do not have them either. I was here to ask if there should be one? 🙂 My glovebox was a bugger to get off as well, with the catch on the drivers side. Passenger side one popped out easily, the other one was a struggle. I can the service mechanic giving this a miss if it is part of the service TBH. This video on youtube recommends pulling off the hinges first, so I might give that a try next time.

    Confusion

On the central screen, not in the settings menu on the meter screen in front of you. On the central screen, go into settings and then sounds (I think), or similar. It's really to do with the audio setup rather than anything to do with speed warning beeps. TBH, I'm not confident as to the likely effect if the radio is off, but it will be easy to try and I live in hope!

    DRCC acceleration settings.

I use it just like that 95% of the time. It's especially useful in stop start traffic.

Thanks very much for that. Unfortunately, both of those failed at the last hurdle - still no mention of maintenance.

    Confusion

It's under sound and media settings, hence why it's totally unconnected to the beep you hear for over speed warnings. Speed Sensitive Volume alerts the volume of your media (ie radio etc) as your speed changes. It might help mask the beep if your music is loud enough. 😉

    DRCC acceleration settings.

I got braver and let the car take me from a 72ish indicated right down to a crawling pace of around 7/8Mph. The tech works but I prefer to press the cancel button and glide to a crawl when I come to slow traffic. Next test for me will to let the car crawl in traffic whilst the DRCC is still set to 70 with my foot firmly hovering the brake. 😬 No particular reason for this just to see if it is truly a no foot operation when set on A roads and Motorways.
  11. I hear what you're saying @philip42h, but just to confirm, Toyota are telling us the direct opposite! I promise you I am not making this up to be difficult! The response from Toyota HQ as part of our technical case - the contents of which I have now read in detail - specifically states that the BZ4X (and other vehicles) are not compatible with smart scheduling offered by other suppliers, of which Octopus, eON and OVO are named - and that this is a deliberate design feature from Toyota in response to GDPR concerns: data from MyToyota or the vehicle being passed back to the charging point in order to enable smart charging to work. You can presumably see why I'm confused: you're saying that Intelligent Octopus Go, PodPoint etc are perfectly fine, but Toyota themselves are telling me that the car will experience charging issues with any charger where "you give the charger the control of whether to charge or not" (my paraphrasing). What I don't get - and this is why I'm really struggling to work out what is truth and what is nonsense in all of this - are three things: 1) Our wall charger and tariff are not 'smart scheduled'. Intelligent Octopus Go charges your car whenever the rate is cheapest, but you don't need to specify when: the charger does it automatically. In other words, it's a dynamic schedule. Ours is just set for whenever you want to charge it, it goes on, but whenever you want it to stop, it will stop. 2) Surely ALL public paid charging points put the charging point in control? E.g. you plug it in, but unless you've paid on an app, the charging cable is fundamentally dead: it's the charging point that determines whether it is charging or not. 3) Our car hasn't worked even in situations where there are no schedules set anywhere - it's failed to charge twice at work where you plug it in, go into an app and then approve the charge (for free - my work pays). I'm really not meaning to be difficult, but the information I'm getting all round - not least from Toyota - is completely conflicted and contradictory. I'm also not sure if it's even relevant to our situation. The nub of it seems to be that Toyota Engineering are saying that the BZ4X doesn't work with chargers where data is passed from the car to the charger. There are plenty of examples - yours included - where it does. How do I possibly begin to plan a long road journey when I have absolutely no idea as to which chargers request data back from the car in order to charge?

Full service at 16150 miles on YCZ

Sound decision. To be fair, I think the majority here haven't really had a problem with the small 12v battery. 5 years on the MK3, no battery or any other car issues at all, almost a year into MK4 car, going good. From now, the only time I would move away from Toyota brand so to speak is to get a lexus. Ps. Looks like you do enough miles per year as well knowing how to ready mode the car, 12v garage safety net.

Where are you coming across that volume setting? I have only been able to find on/off options for speed limit warnings.

    DRCC acceleration settings.

Hi Simon. In that case definitely brake in advance, then re engage cruise to join the queue. If you are approaching a car close to your speed, just let the DRCC do it's job.

    Poor low beam headlamps

Just bumping this back up. Still not gotten around to polishing the headlights but took a microscope photo of the surface of what looks to be a reasonable lens on my car with a bit of yellowing. Super close up with a microscope shows how bad it gets and not surprising it lowers light output.

    Bluetooth Connection on Yaris

not sure as I only have one car under android auto and I know you said it works ok with other cars. So is there a setting under android auto that could be per car. I know in auto you have to say start android auto if device locked and start music automatically option but just wonder if you had more then one car it would have an individual setting. Also could it be the car setting where you have to create your own profile that knows its your phone and not use your wifes profile on the car otherwise it will try and connect to her phone. This is unless you have set the car to recognise the person from the key used. I think by default it uses a phone and if your wifes phone is within range it will see that when you start it up. Just some things to look at

    Confusion

Although I won't be using the car until Sunday, I have taken a look at the equivalent screen in my Corolla. I've changed the speed sensitive volume from medium to low and I'll see if it makes any difference. I can't find any option to adjust system beeps though; if it exists somewhere it is well hidden. I could turn off the speed camera warning beeps (on the Nav setup screen) if I chose to; but I can't find any way of turning off beeps generally.
  20. For naysayers, battery chargers and boosters are effectively one-off costs and usable car to car. I had one of those large battery booster and tyre inflator pack that sat in the boot of my Merc and automatically topped up from the 12v socket. It eventually failed and I missed its booster function.

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

its going to sound daft but the cross drives like an SUV so a little more lean if you hit the corners hard. Yaris drives like a little sporty car hardly any lean into the corners. I cant say I have noticed any real difference in softness of the suspension in general day driving between the two. I believe they are based on exactly the same floor pan so wheels are the same distance on both models which is why I said about the lean in corners as that is main difference I notice because of the centre of gravity being higher in the Cross. If you want fun little car that feels sporty get the Yaris if you want a fun car with more leg room in the back and easier to get in and out of get the Cross. I am basing my experience on my wife's Y23 cross and my yaris excel Y24

    Toyota service plan

So you will need your first service at 8 months, second at 16 and third at 2 years. Safe guarding against price rises over 2 years as opposed to 3 years will be less valuable. As I said elsewhere, the App is now good for predicting the 10 000 mile interval date.
  23. Absolutely, what I have been trying to work out is how close I am to the vehicle in front when that happens, I.e. the range of the radar (I haven't used it enough yet). Different subject, I noted your point that the DRCC doesn't pick up stationary vehicles, and I'm sure that is so. What I don't know is how, or if, it reacts to slow moving traffic, e.g. driving at 70mph on the motorway and closing rapidly on cars in a slow moving queue. I am sure that I would have cancelled the DRCC and would be slowing down well before I was in 'radar range' anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.
  24. But it is - provided that you specify a correct charger: returns: It would appear that the choice of smart charger is the issue rather than the model of the car. But you still have my sympathy - it all seems rather over-complicated with 'unnecessary pitfalls'.

I actually saw a Yaris Cross yesterday for the first time…..very interesting 🤔 By the looks of it there is slightly more room inside than the standard Yaris but is the ride much the same as the Yaris or is it slightly softer as it seems to have more suspension travel?

    Momentarily Loss Of Power

I'm guessing you're seeing a curvy road symbol on the dash at the same time (if you've got your dash display set up to show that section) My guess is it's a driving aid, the car slowing down for a bend in the road. Hence why it happens same place every time. I forget what it's called but you can disable it in the settings on the dashboard. You do need to be stationary to access that part of the menu though.
