    "Oil Maintenance Required"

Doesn't make sense. It should have been complaining since October. Yes ... So get them to reset it. Put a note on your calendar like we used to (and I still do * ). It does sound like the system is half-cocked somehow. ( * Is it weird that I don't trust my cars to tell me when they need a service but do trust Google?)

    Will I lose Sat Nav….

If I disconnect the battery? I want to pull the seats out to give the carpets and cloth seats a thorough clean and I know the battery should be disconnected because of the airbags, but do I risk losing the sat nav or messing up anything else by doing that? many thanks. mac

    60,000 mile service cost Aberdeen

Toyota call it fixed price servicing. Clue in the name. Besides, £180 extra for 4 plugs? No, I don't think so.

    replacing OEM alloy wheels

I think it will be the M15 engine, a 3 cyl variant of the dynamic force series. So it's basically the same as the 2.0 unit that we have in the UK market, but with one less cylinder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Dynamic_Force_engine#M15C-FKS?wprov=sfla1

    "Oil Maintenance Required"

it was bought new in Sept 2022 and sold back to the same dealer in Oct 2023 when we then bought it.

    "Oil Maintenance Required"

Interesting puzzle. How many previous owners are mentioned on the V5? I'm wondering if it passed through one dealer, and was serviced as part of the sale prep, at 4k before being traded in again with your dealer, who did not service it but stamped the book. I will admit to some degree of cynicism where motor traders are concerned.

    CVT Transmission Fluid Change

Ive noticed some guides refer to the fill plug being on the side (accessible via the wheel arch) and others mention the the one on the top of the gearbox (T55). Can either be used? I'm thinking maybe the one at the top is just meant for inspection rather than filling but if it works, its easier to use Also I see guides sate CVT FE fluid but the original handbook has CVT TC. Has FE superceded TC?

Tyre wear and replacement Mk 4

So you've had the car for two years and 20K miles and have around 4mm of tread left (from 6mm original?). I reckon that gives you around another two years and 20K miles before you're down to 2mm tread depth. Ample time.

    1.0 Spark Plugs

As a matter of interest, a question for 1.0 auto owners...how much shake/vibration is "normal"? I noticed it more at warm idle before the spark plug change. Defintiely better than it was now

    Ceramic Coating

I just use a good polish and wax. Takes time and effort, but pays off in time spent washing in the future. Particularly for brake dust on the wheels!

    Seat Wear & Tear ?

I did something similar. A person I knew saw me stopped at traffic lights and hopped on the pillion, saying something like 'drop us off at ......' I accelerated , leaving them 'nutmegged' on the road.

    "Oil Maintenance Required"

When does the last service show in the app? It's possible it was serviced early before you bought it. I think the oil service counter is specific to the car but the app is based on the service history online though if it was done properly last time, they would possibly coincide.

    "Oil Maintenance Required"

When was it last serviced? It's more than a year since registration so should have had a service between Sept 23 and Feb 24.

    Toyota yaris 2012 not starting

I'd check the battery and chassis earth. Poor earth connections cause a multitude of issues. Connect s jump lead direct from battery earth to the engine and also battery to chassis. Give it a try.
  21. I have had my 72 plate Yaris Cross since October last year. We bought it with 9K on the clock and it now has 14K on the clock. The next service interval is a year or 20K miles, so not due yet. A few days ago i started getting the warning "Oil Maintenance required in 420 miles". The clock is ticking down and it now is down to 390 miles. It is not due a service and so I am not sure why the warning has popped up. I went into the main dealer and they were not helpful. They suggested that the clock might not have been reset when the last service was done. Or they said there might be a thenical fault. She said that they could reset the clock if i wanted, but if they did, then the 20K service interval warning would be lost. She said there was no physical problem with the car though the Toyota App says i need to schedule a maintenace appointment soon. She said it was best just to wait until the next scheduled service in October. Its not really a problem, but annoying that i have to cancel the warning everytime i turn the car on. Any ideas?

    Toyota yaris 2012 not starting

My first reaction is a mouse or something has chewed some important wires or there's a corroded earth strap somewhere...
  23. Mate, I need your help with my car. It's a 2012 Toyota Yaris, and last year it wouldn't start, so I changed the battery. My wife drives it, but she only does like 2,000 miles a year. She just drives it to the grocery store and her mom's house, which are both less than two miles away. So it's only short trips. But after three months of replacing the battery, it wouldn't start again. And when I unlocked it with the key, the trunk wouldn't open either. I had to jump-start it, and then it worked. But the next day, the same thing happened, even though I had driven it for half an hour. The next day, I drove it again for 30 minutes, and after that, it worked fine for a few months. But then it happened again. The trunk is locked, and the car won't start. I checked the battery, and it's fine. But it's losing power when it's turned off, and my neighbor told me that my car lights were flashing while it was locked. I don't know how that's possible. Now, here's another problem. Sometimes when I'm driving, it'll just lose all power and won't start. But after some jiggling, it starts again. So I have two problems. Sometimes it won't start at all, and sometimes it loses power while I'm driving. The last time it happened, I pressed the accelerator, and it didn't turn off.

    21st Birthday 🎂

Yes! I miss those so much, esp. the HVAC controls! In the Mk4, while I'm grateful they are buttons and not horrible touch screen controls, they're all the same shape and size, and that size is a 1x0.3cm button all in a continuous row down in the dark in front of the gear shifter with nothing to distinguish them by position or feel - Very much form over function! I will say the detented knobs for adjusting temperature are nice though and the hazard warning button is nice and sanely sized and positioned. Amusingly the window control switches are practically identical to the ones in the Mk1 and Mk2 (And I'm guessing the Mk3!), but I'm glad they stuck to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mantra there

  27. Hi Jake, Welcome to our forum, hope you find the parts you need. Long years ago, it was very challenging to find Japanese imports parts, and insurers, nowadays it's a huge business in the UK...
