Hi from a Proace Verso owner

Hello Ian - welcome to Toyota Owners Club .
  4. If you have a pro tyre garage nearby you can book an appointment for ac test and regas. I did last week as they have an offer for 25% off ., total costs £45. Been using these guys third time now and so fat so good. https://www.protyre.co.uk/aircon

Hi can I change my boot foam to fit a space saver tyre
  6. Had the vehicle for a year now and been very happy with it. Very versatile especially with a combination of seats coming out and with them all in great for taking all six grandchildren out for the day

2022 Yaris uneven rear tyre wear

Agreed, playing with tyre pressure is important to find the perfect balance. Adjust on cold only and when test drive and readjust wait at least 30 min after you stop and then measure and add air or deflate. Also when doing these tests try to notice how the car drives over bumps and road cracks, imperfections., if too squishy and soft means tyres pressures are low, if too harsh and bumpy means tyres pressures are too high. The typical correct pressure ride is firm but smooth with nice rubbery feel. When you have the correct pressures set on cold and under shade, never under direct sunlight the pressure may move up or down depending on air temperature and sunlight and when in motion but you will remain within the car specs as all these been taken into account by the manufacturer. For peace of mind you can do slight over the pre set numbers for example on 2.3 bar you can do 2.35 bar, this is what I usually do. 👍👍🛞

    Engine noise

Water pump failure it’s not uncommon in Toyota’s cars , actually it’s a typical problem on many Toyota non hybrid engines and sometimes these pumps fail early as 20-30k miles or few years. Two major reasons for premature water pump failure are using wrong coolant mixture or old coolant, over tensioned belt on cars with manual belt adjustment.

Depends if you look at trolley problem 2 where the single person is a mother with a pram
  10. I stand corrected on the OE charge not containing any dye - I always thought that was just added in as a matter of course. I've had leaks from the compressor hoses and the condenser in previous ownerships. I remember having one car that passed the vacuum leak test, only to fail within a few days once charged and under pressure, so I would say that test is probably not the be-all-and-end-all. Why do they use vacuum rather than positive pressure for the leak test? Presumably it's quicker since the system would already be under vacuum once evacuated?

    Proace verso tailgate window

Hi, I had my rear windscreen wiper repaired under warranty but in fixing this they broke one of the gas strut brackets that are fixed to the rear opening window. Now I know that my local Toyota garage are now responsible for repairing this but they are telling me that the fitting isn't a separate part and is part of the rear window. I have now been waiting for about four months as the window is on back order. I have tried googling the part or an alternative but have been unsuccessful so far. It seems such a waste to replace the window for the sake of a possible £3 piece of metal. Does anyone know of an alternative part or where I could possibly get an alternative. TIA Ian

You think the average driver will notice a high needle before a warning light? Pretty sure I wouldn't.

    Wireless android auto.

For sure. I don't know where the usb and 12v sockets are in a Yaris. In a Corolla, the 12v socket is inside the centre console box between the front seats (along with a usb c socket for charging only). The usb c charging/data socket is in a slightly odd place just to the right of the glove box; but it is directly under my phone.

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

My laptop is somewhere on Hillingdon refuse tip. Every time I turned it on it kept downloading windows something or other and using up my monthly data allowance. I thought I would teach that Will Bates a lesson - can't gobble up all my data unless he goes digging on the dump.

Water pump failure at 60K miles? Not good. I've had company vehicles in the past that I have had from new and driven through 150K miles till I got them replaced, and not one of them had water pump failure. It simply is poor quality parts they seem to be using on later Yaris's. Wheel bearings failing at low mileages on later mk3 Yaris's seem to be another issue too - again, parts that simply should not be failing at such low mileages. I'm glad mine is only on 33K miles now and I only do about 3K miles a year, so my car wont get to 60K miles for another 9 years, by which time I probably wont own it as it would be 19 years old by then, so at least, hopefully I wont have to be worrying about overheating and loss of coolant - something which you wont really know about till its too late due to a lack of a temperature gauge. That tiny red overheat light is easily missed. I dont know why on earth manufacturers seem to think it's ok to make cars with no temperature gauge - it could make the difference between stopping an overheating engine in time, or missing it and cooking the engine to the point of writing it off. £284 seems pretty steep, but then everything costs a fortune to repair or replace these days. I got charged £120 just to change the front brake pads on mine last week. Every time something needs doing these days, its hundreds of pounds.

    New Prius PHEV first impressions

Fair enough… not sure what point you are making as a car is not a fridge and certainly not the same oil. Good luck with the Gen5. See my previous comments on first impressions.

I think that’s why all these safety systems like lane keep sign recognition ect are being fitted to cars it’s all so it can be fine tuned for driverless cars,

    New Prius PHEV first impressions

I am interested in the gen 5 thanks , I already know about the cars I have owned or own. I was trying to find out things about the gen 5 which Toyota dont tell me in their sales blurb. I am interested because refrigertions systems run the electric motors in the refrigerant along with lubricant which I do understand however, running electric motors in gear oil ( and the Toyota does use planetary gears in its cvt) seems a bit iffy since the sheer forces in the gears dont go well with the lubricating polymers of oil. Therefore the oil has to be very very special stuff which I am curious about.

2022 Yaris uneven rear tyre wear

Wow that is a complete contrast to the 17" wheels and tyres (205/45) where the recommended pressure is 32psi front and 29psi rear! I will run the fronts at 34 and the rear at 32 and see how it goes. Thanks
