  2. So for clarity I believe they were saying model in terms of model of RAV4 but not trim which made me wonder about the RAV4 one after this rather than a different model of car entirely 😂

    MK3 wiper blade removal

the plastic insert when new does flex and acts like a spring pushing outwards, age and UV hardens the plastic just as an example this is what clips into the hook on the wiper arm the tab locks into the square hole on the arm

    Aygo X Trend TSS VVT-1CVT

Looking at different forums, this seems to be a well known phenomenon with this type of gearbox - surely Toyota should be looking at the amount of problems people are having with it instead of dismissing it out if hand ?

    Aygo X Trend TSS VVT-1CVT

Son bought a May 21 registered Aygo from Motorpoint 31/08/23. Car was immaculate inside and out , no wear on pedals , seats, steering wheel etc. Car started high revving last couple of miles home and next day undriveable! Main dealer says clutch burnt out and aux belt cracked and perishing. £1,600 repair bill! Surely this should be covered by the Toyota 3 year warranty? No-one wants to know! My son has driven automatic cars for the last 12 years so it’s nothing to do with his driving style ! Now left with car finance of £14,564 on a car that’s not even three years old ! Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Final Payment Question

That correspondence I got through the portal. I downloaded and saved the pdfs so that's how I can look-up the dates - I may be a sad old ***, but I'm a paperless sad old ***! 🙂 So, you do have to go to the portal and look (probably). I can't say that I didn't also get copies through the post (but I'm a paperless sad old ***)

Hi Stephen, the process of a forced regeneration typically involves the following steps. Diagnostic Check, the technician connects a diagnostic scan tool Techstream or other capable tool to the vehicle's onboard diagnostic (OBD) system to check for any fault codes related to the DPF or exhaust system. Preparation, ensure the vehicle is parked in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors, as the regeneration process can generate high temperatures and exhaust gases. Initialisation,Using the diagnostic tool, the technician initiates the forced regeneration procedure. This prompts the engine management system to adjust fuel injection timing and exhaust temperatures to raise the temperature of the DPF to a level where accumulated soot can be burned off. Monitoring, during the regeneration process, the technician monitors various engine parameters, such as exhaust gas temperature and pressure, to ensure the regeneration is proceeding correctly and safely. Completion, once the regeneration process is complete, the technician verifies that the DPF has been effectively cleaned and that there are no remaining fault codes. Test Drive, a short test drive may be conducted to ensure the vehicle is performing correctly and that the regeneration process was successful. Documentation,The details of the forced regeneration, including any fault codes found and actions taken, are typically documented for record keeping purposes. It's important to note that forced regeneration should only be performed by qualified technicians familiar with the specific procedures and safety precautions for your vehicle model. Attempting to perform regeneration procedures without the necessary expertise and equipment can result in damage to the vehicle or personal injury.Hope this helps.

    MK3 wiper blade removal

Oh great, more work ... 🙂 But as I explained earlier this all supposes you know what's holding it. From what @flash22 had said I was potentially needing to break a tab which would need some applied brute force. (I'm not sure if that was the case or not as a brief post-removal inspection was inconclusive.)

It's probably the protected thing people mentioned above - On mine if there is a high-g detected (Which is frequent due to all the speed humps and potholes everywhere here ), or if I hit the Keep Event button (Or whatever it's called), that video segment gets the Read-only flag set and it's moved into a RO folder.
  12. Hi, Thank you for reading. I accidentally smashed the rear screen on my 1995 Toyota Corolla 1.3 Sportif SE auto 3dr hatchback last week. None of the autoglass companies can source the glass. I have contacted Toyota UK and they say it is discontinued. Pilkington apparently cannot have it custom made. The only option seems to be to find a second hand part. The car is my pride and joy, and is otherwise in very good condition, with only 38k on the clock. It's a rare and beautiful car to me, and I would like to keep it if I can find the replacement glass anywhere. I have been told by one of the autoglaziers I contacted that the glass is the same in the 5dr hatchback and the 3dr hatchback, so a salvage 5dr hatchback tailgate should work. If anyone with the knowledge can confirm or deny this, that would be very helpful also. Please let me know if you have the part and are willing to sell, or if you have any leads for me to follow. I would find it very sad to part with the car. Thank you again for reading.

    2.0 hybrid judder /missfire

Calm city driving I believe doesn't make use of the direct injectors much. So could something bad happen if remnants of fuel or water are left inside the injector for a long time? If so a regular blast might help to keep them running. Odd that it's almost always #3 though! Another thought, perhaps the engine being in ready mode (and being kept up to operating temperature) for 8+ hours a shift results in some heat damage - injector #3 being in the middle would suffer more. Or maybe it's just something like vibrations damaging that specific injector... As for me, I will keep using premium unleaded and hope that helps (if nothing else, maybe it will slow down the clogging of the EGR valve and butterfly valve)

    Final Payment Question

Did you get those decision letters through the post or via the portal? I was starting to get a bit leery as I literally haven't had any communication from them, electronically or post...ally, since the agreement was set up and I posted a message asked them to change the monthly pay date to AFTER the day I got paid instead of just before!

    Final Payment Question

I found the process relatively reassuring ... My agreement started in Sep 2020 - over 24 months I received an annual statement in Sep 2021 In Jun 2022 I received a "Time to make a decision" letter - I ignored it! In Jul 2022 I received a "Time to make a decision" letter - I acted on it! In Aug 2022 I received a "Thanks for making your decision" letter I received an annual statement in Sep 2022 In October I received a "Your Agreement is complete" letter All communication was via the portal as far as I recall. And, as you say, they do complete the process by taking the final big balloon payment via direct debit unless you arrange something else. But surely, we all take great care to understand these sorts of agreement before we sign them, don't we? 😉
  17. a blocked ocv and/or filter will throw out the timing it will also generate codes that cause misfires and the engine will run rough and or die when slowing down after the use of 50% throttle or more (intake camshaft stays too far advanced) check the resistance of the OCV Yes the crankshaft reluctor is press fit to the crankshaft it does not move - newer crankshafts do not fit the older cars as the reluctors are different, the Aygo, Yaris and IQ all use different variations of the 1KR

    Final Payment Question

Thanks mate, I'll try that - My final is coming up soon and I want to just get some reassurance for what I consider a large sum of money! I think Toyota in general really need to work on their communication responsiveness in this country...!

    Final Payment Question

I'm pretty sure that I arranged to settle my agreement through the portal - and that all worked just fine. I rather suspect that the 'secure message' system enables them to communicate with you rather than the other way around. Correspondence I received from them includes an email address: customerexperience@uk.toyota-fs.com ...

    Final Payment Question

Have any of you lot been able to contact Toyota Finance through the portal? I've left a load of messages but had no replies! My dealer recommended I call them but it's been tricky since I'm working during their working hours and they close before I get off work! Also this is what I was warning people about Direct Debit - You only authorized them to take out the monthly sum, but they can unilaterally change it at the end to a figure 2-3 orders of magnitude more to take out the lump sum final payment without your explicit authorization!

I now have the new SD card fitted, and all seems to be recording correctly....... Thank goodness. I just need to fine tune the settings. It's a long time since I did it before. All of the videos are write protected on the Rav's camera, on the Yaris they aren't, is there a setting for this ?

    Lane keep assist

Toyota's system has some of the highest scores in EuroNCAP so there's your reason - They've always been a bit obsessed with getting as many 5 star ratings which is why e.g. every Yaris has had more and more air bags crammed into it (I wonder if, by the time we get to the the Mk6, the whole car will be an airbag! ) In contrast, it's quite funny watching some of the other manufacturers where they just plough through the test dummy pedestrian *then* stop

@drykoke you can anticipate the actions of other drivers. You can't anticipate the responses of other cars computers.
