  2. On my old 2021 Corolla the AHB wasn't at all reliable, it would often cause me to be flashed by oncoming traffic. The AHB on the new 73 plate is amazing, pretty much flawless.
  3. To be fair it can be very simple and reliable, you pick an electricity tariff with a fixed set of off-peak hours every night, like Economy 7 or one of the simple EV tariffs, you switch off any smart controls at the charge-point and set it to be ON 24/7, then you configure a charging schedule (timer) in the vehicle which matches your tariff's off-peak times. The vehicle wakes up at the set time, charges, goes back to sleep. There's very little to go wrong. I've used this approach with the PHEV for several years and never had any problems charging at home. By comparison, the operation of the smart dynamic EV charging tariffs is far more complex with a lot more potential for things to go wrong, because it is reliant on comms between the supplier, to the charge-point provider and onto to the charge-point, or via the vehicle manufacturer onto the vehicle, with the added possibility of clashes between the timing/settings in the vehicle vs charge-point. So a lot more potential for problems in the chain of communications, or problems with the interaction between the vehicle and the charge-point.

    Fuel low warning

Why just add a small amount? The level sensors in these cars are very approximate (I don't think they've changed in decades). Just fill it up or the system won't know you've done anything.

    Fuel low warning

****ed with a potentially large repair bill from a Toyota main dealer 🤣 Toyota factor in a large safety reserve when the low fuel warning light illuminates for a reason - running a Toyota / Lexus hybrid out of fuel is not recommended & don't expect the repair bill to be covered under warranty.

    2012 Yaris a/c pipe leak

The OP didn't say it's a liquid leak. ... The liquid line pipe. Like he said. It's hard to tell on these forums whether a new entrant knows what he's talking about, but I try to at least begin by believing they might.

    Beating 99.9mpg

was away for a few days holiday, so decided to see what the average over the tank of fuel was for my corolla TS, started off with a full tank. traveled 653.9km / 408.6 miles over a few days, mix of country roads and motorway driving. returned home car was showing 93km range left. filled tank again, and it took 30.55L to fill. that works out at 60.8mpg average for the 30.55L used. one of the drives through the mountains was showing as 3.9L/100 km / 72mpg for a 51km drive.
  8. Don’t know about recalls, but I don’t have any problems with it nor in the mark3 either. I drive quite a lot on country roads, and sometimes in through towns and I wouldn’t be without it.

    Car seems to be sliding

IMHO, assuming wheel alignment and tyre pressures are good. Either poor quality tyres or weak shock absorbers What tyres do you have ? Does car drive straight ? not pulling left or right Does this sliding feel like understeer or oversteer ?
  10. My old Auris has better AHB than this 2020 Corolla. I have seen the various posts on here about AHB. On this Corolla it switches on even when there are streetlights, doesn't auto off with oncoming cars, auto off when slowing for traffic lights. I have had to turn AHB off completely because it is rubbish. So that's lane alert / lane centering and now AHB have turned off cos they just do not work properly, and am very wary of using radar cruise because if I change lanes coming up to a stop, it doesn't apply the brakes. Is there a recall to get new software for any of these "safety systems"? Thanks.

    Fuel low warning

The low fuel warning is just a warning; Other than that, like a normal car it will happily run until it's totally empty and then you're ****ed. What's the problem anyway? Just put some fuel in the damned thing!!

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

How did you like the Excel compared to your Design spec Sharnie? Shame about your neck and arm pain though. When I last had a Yaris as a courtesy car I can’t remember having any problems getting comfortable in it and definitely didn’t feel like the steering was any harder to turn than my Prius is and found both cars really easy

    New Prius PHEV first impressions

It wasn't cost engineered - They weren't even going to bring the car here originally so the UK's stupid tax rules wasn't even in their mind when they designed it. I think Toyota UK have deliberately set the cost just below the threshold for the top spec and kept the lower spec under specifically to keep it under the premium tax, but that's nothing to do with how the car was engineered. Also, this is a PHEV - It's a bargain at that price! If I didn't need a small car I'd have seriously considered one. On a slight tangent, has the new Prius even been delivered to the UK yet? If not, what's the rough delivery date? If yes, this may be the final nail in its coffin in the UK, as I've not seen a single one on the roads which does not bode well for the model if they're already shipping to customers... They only changed their minds and brought it here because of customer interest, but if that isn't reflected in sales I think that will be it for the name Prius...

    Excel vs Premiere Edition

Toyota seats can be very trick to adjust properly and get into good comfortable driving position. The trick is lower the seat base more than you like usually. When lowering the seat base in all Toyota cars with manual seat adjustment the base changes it’s angle and back base, lower means lower back seat, higher means upper back base. All that makes a huge difference. Here my steps to adjust drivers seat 1. Lower to lowest settings 2. Adjust distance from pedals 3. Adjust height 4. Adjust reclining 5. Adjust headrest 6 . Adjust steering wheel to match your seat pedals combination.

    New Prius PHEV first impressions

Not sure what your point is as there are no “wide wheel” options available an on the road cost with metalic paint will take you past 40k once vat is calculated

    Fuel low warning

Dennis when the low fuel warning comes on there’s approximately 6lts left in the tank. Then the car will run until there’s no fuel left in the tank. So don’t run the tank dry, 6lts will take you another 50 miles at least and after that it’s squeaky bum time🤔😂. Never run your car until empty, get fuel into it ASAP after the low fuel warning comes on.
  21. Hi, While workshop Sniffers are typically £200+ there are quiet a few budget air con sniffers around the £20 - £30 mark that get varying online reviews on the usuall selling sites. Wondered if anyone has used a budget one and can recommend it . Know there are UV dyes but they ( online) say a Sniffer is better .

    New Prius PHEV first impressions

It strikes me that Toyota have most likely cost engineered the latest prius PHEV in order to avoid buyers getting stung £2K by the UK government during the first 6 years of ownership. Who wants to go to work for a couple of months in order to give the government all of their "spending money"? ( spending money being defined as what is left in your pocket after tax, NI , mortgage, food, clothes, council tax , house bills and annual holiday) So the base model is well and truly below £40K. What value does the driver get for this £2K? erm... bragging rights? Silly as it sounds, it is actually better to buy your car and then buy the extras a month later because as far as I can see, the new cost of the car includes the extras? So.. wide wheels, metalic paint and seats which burn your bottom when the sun has been shining on them will end up costing you your weekly pint of beer for six years in addition to the extra cost of the extras themselves.

    Fuel low warning

When the fuel warning came on. I added a small amount that did not register. I tried the workaround but no change. The question is if the car believes it is out of fuel will it stop or will it continue normally?
  25. As title, after picking up my car I was annoyed to find that they don't come with illuminated window switches so I sourced a new set of CHR item that are and that fit into the Ravs OEM, also comes with the illuminated mirror switch also The one on the left in the picture is the CHR one and the right obviously the standard RAV. It takes literally 5 minutes to do and is very simple to do also. Cost me originally well over £100! £50 collected from NG15 area of Nottingham
