    Hybrid Vs petrol

Just a little update I still haven't filled the petrol car up yet, being used for work and school/nursery runs, still on half a tank, it would be interesting to fill both up and see which actual does the best
  3. Many thanks for the heads-up. I hadn't looked at the navigation manual in any detail because it seemed quite intuitive to set up (unlike the meter screen); I had thought that AA was wired only but I haven't connected to it yet because I still need to sort out a suitable phone mount! Anway, I have now looked at the relevant section of the navigation manual and wireless AA is indeed available. It's on the 'to do' list.
  4. This is my first time posting so apologies if I mess something up. Recently it has started to make a sort of rattling sound when accelerating/at low speeds. The sound seems to be coming from under the car. I'm fairly new to working on cars and wanted to know if anyone might have an idea as to what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 6. I have Toyota Carina2 1991 with 3sfe engine automatic. My question is what relay and/or fuse controls the left and right Headlights ( low beam) and where is it located?. I know about Headlight ( high beam) relays and fuses but can' find the controls for low beam

    Dead DA and dead battery

So, confirmed that the battery is weak, it appears be ok as long as I don't plug in the dash cam. I left the camera plugged in parking mode, normally it cuts off when voltage 11.8v and also the car turns of non essential to preserve the battery, doors/boot open but wont start. Works ok if leave the camera unplugged. I am looking for a batter, and notice that the start/stop type batteries have far more capability 270k compared to a normal 50k starts. Should I buy the start/stop lead acid if the price difference is not much? Is there any downside to using start/stop battery in a non start/stop card

Have you ever met anyone famous

When he was married to Dorothy Squires, they lived in Sutton Coldfield - about 4 miles from where we are now.
  9. Thank you. This is excellent. I had read both the user guide and the manual and thought that I had the best setup that I could get (for my preferences). Turns out that that I have missed a couple of tricks on setting up the meters so tomorrow I'll make some changes (I thought that if I selected the single dial meter I could only have the analogue speedo - which is fairly useless as the digital speedo makes it redundant).

Toyota Yaris fan keeps coming on

When I switch ignition on, all the things light up on dash and there's a little red tem icon, all goes out and don't come back on? so no warning or anything? There's no temp gauge though?

  12. Saw this image on another site today: When there’s no public charger available and you’re desperate to get your cable to any source of power 🤔

    RAV4 drivers footwell (RHD)

In the drivers footwell of the RAV4 is a panel about the size of a letterbox. On opening it looks like it's supposed to hold something. Any idea what it's for Other than having an ID number for the car body ?

    Aygo alternator fuse

Hi, Can you pls. tell me how can I remove the cover on the fuse box to access the Alternator fuse? I have electrical system failures in my Aygo KGB10 and the alternator will not charge the battery so i suspect that the Alternator fuse has blown 😞 Also is there any means to check if the alternator fuse is blown by using a Multimeter? I was thinking of removing the battery first and then put the Multimeter in Connectivity mode and then touch one probe to Alternator B+ and the other probe to Battery Positive wire connector and listen to Beep to verify if the fuse is blown or not?

Always thought there was something dodgy about that fella.
  16. MY24 Corollas have wireless android auto as standard with the same infotainment system as the MY23 cars, so should be able to be easily added to MY23 cars with a OTA update, which is why I was asking! I believe it was to do with licensing, wireless android auto was quite expensive compared to the licence for wireless carplay so not many manufacturers included it. I think that's changed recently, most major car manufacturers offer wireless AA as standard equipment now. BMW, VAG, mercedes, Peugeot etc all offer wireless AA now.

    Yaris Key Programming

Oh, I forgot to add the fob number that worked for me if anyone in the future requires it.... Valeo 89071-0D030
  19. Interesting, thanks. I'm not sure why so many cars seem to have wireless apple carplay but wired android auto. Maybe to do with licensing? I don't know. TBH, I am not too bothered about having to plug the phone in. My phone doesn't have wireless charging so the charging pad is of no use to me (unless I upgrade my phone); but the pad is very low down and I prefer to have the phone higher up for better signal. The issue for me at the moment is how/where to mount the phone. I used a YOSH magnetic air vent mount in my last car but it doesn't work with the Corolla's centre vents. So it's going to have to windscreen (which is steeply raked) or dash top. If anyone has any suggestions for mounts that work well in a Corolla, I'm all ears!

    My new Yaris Cross

That’s why men take so long on the toilet. Time for studying specifications to the Nth degree.

    Oh..

The world’s best invisible bumper repair specialist lives round the corner from me. He has a long waiting list and I’m north Derbyshire but well worth the trouble if you want a top job.

    New Yaris

Here I am contemplating the upgraded UX (with torture buzzer) and this buzzer thing raises its ugly head. I have a little pre flight ritual of turning the “you will stay in lane even if I drag you into the cones on a completely empty dual carriageway because you didn’t indicate” device, the auto hold on. I also turn my side lights on to save shining my headlights up my neighbours house across the street. I suppose I could learn to speed disable the snowflake speed warning or I could locate the buzzer and stuff it full of blutac although I know the prospect of disabling the woohoo noise generator really upset some members on here. These noise makers are sometimes only a pin hole and take a bit of finding. I wonder if the UKs only traffic cop would get upset if he saw my legs over anchorwoman’s shoulders while she was constantly shifting between 30 and 30.5 mph? You need your head under the dash for such an investigation. Final option is keep the one I’ve got but there doesn’t seem much point living without changing cars at a ridiculous rate.

    New Yaris

To stop that happening, they’ve buried it so deep in the menus, it takes three hours to reach it… well, I think Colin said 8 presses!
  24. But the previous link that you gave, says to measure thus:-
