    Harsh acceleration

Nah they're too slow for me... To be fair I try to be courteous, leave space, let people out, always use signals, don't honk at people if they don't move within a split second of the lights going green etc., all very un-Audi behaviour! You should be able to do that - My HVAC is almost permanently set on Eco, and because I manually selected that, it stays on Eco whether I use Normal or Power mode (Although I use the other modes almost never - Since I discovered they don't actually do anything aside from change the accelerator pedal mapping slightly, 99.999% of the time I just use Eco because it allows more low-speed finesse, which is handy for traffic and parking, but will still give me full power if I floor it )

    Yaris 1.4 D4D buying advice

One good thing about the Mk2 D4D is there are a lot more of them so you have more room to pick and choose; The Mk1 D4Ds didn't sell many and trying to find one in good nick, esp. a top-spec T-Spirit, is... well, I think finding an actual unicorn would be easier Good luck with your search - They're great cars

Limited Remote Climate Settings on App

Icons have a heated steering wheel! I feel cheated!😂 Just looked around and there is no mention of HSW on any grade / model of 2024 Corolla.
  5. Is it vacuum or compressed air? I'd think the latter more likely.

Limited Remote Climate Settings on App

She does indeed obey window commands. For the time being l will assume it's just a technical glitch with the MY24 that will get fixed eventually. 🤞

Limited Remote Climate Settings on App

The heated steering wheel would have been useful, as I'm always parked outside in winter. On my last car I had heated windscreen washer nozzles, they came on automatically when it was cold but some of the wiper blade element heating options I've seen require you to turn it on yourself.

Limited Remote Climate Settings on App

One thing I've noticed is that the temperature setting for the remote start overrides what you had set previously. I normally have 19/20 in the car but choose 24 for the defrosting in the app. Every time I get in the car afterwards I have to manually change the temperature back from 24 to the previous setting.
  10. There are a few differences that I'm aware of, maybe others that I'm not... On the minus side, what they have done to the TSS. On the plus side, MY24 Icons have wireless AA, heated steering wheels and the weird heating element at the bottom of the windscreen which is supposed to stop the wipers freezing (only weird because I have never seen such a thing on any other car). I do appreciate the heated steering wheel ☺️
  11. It would be easy to do via the drive mode switch. On my last car I had a choice of eco/normal/sport and also an individual mode where I could change various settings to have a custom drive mode such as sport accelerator but normal steering and eco air conditioning. Just having to press the driving mode switch twice (or once then tap the infotainment screen) to get to an individual mode on the corolla with everything set how I like would be a good option.

If you are getting emails then it is your chosen settings that make it so. Change your settings.
  14. Hi. I hope someone here can please help me. I have a 2008 plate RAV4 2.2 D4D and from the factory, it came with a 58827 (86120-42220) head unit with steering wheel controls, iPod plug and Bluetooth for calls. As it has started playing up, I have found a replacement... it's a model 59029 (86140-0W010) Whilst it all fits physically, I have far more plugs on the rear of the 59029 and I am not sure what is supposed to be plugged into what and I also do not appear to have is anywhere for the standard aerial lead to go. I have guessed that A, B, C & D on the 58827 will go to A, B, C & D on the 59029 I also think that x on the bottom unit of the 59029 goes to y & z on the top main unit of the 59029 - but I don't know what sort of cable I need for this or where to get it from! 😞 I am also not sure what the entire bottom module is for as it is a separate module bolted to the main head unit... Any advice here would be great also, if anyone has a PDF version of the handbook that would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Limited Remote Climate Settings on App

There were no window controls for the 2023 model in the brochure either, it was added in an app update. Can you say "hey Toyota, open all the windows" ? If the car then opens all the windows I think your app should also be capable of doing so in your car

    MY24 Yaris Cross

I wouldnt say its the most informative video I've ever seen, but may be useful for anyone still to see the MY24 premiere in the flesh...set the playback into 4k for the best images
  18. The tyre pressure monitoring sensor has been replaced on one rear wheel of my Toyota Auris diesel 2015; now the TPMS fault light remains on in the dashboard. It cannot be cleared by using the Reset button. How do I (simply) access the settings to calibrate the new TPMS into the system, and ensure all the sensors are recording accurately. Thank you.

Swapping RAV4 for a Yaris Cross

….. not a fan of side steps there can and do get very mucky and this can often get deposited on trousers or legs.

    Yaris steering not self centering

Before contemplating taking out the dash I decided to double check that it wasn't a mechanical issue so got the car in the air. Firstly the track rods were disconnected, struts turned freely so not ball joints or top mount bearings, then disconnected the steering column at the knuckle joint, absolutely no difference to the steering, still sticky and reluctant to move which means it can only be be the EPS control module or the EPS motor. Not sure I've got the inclination to take the dash out so I may just sell the car off cheap.
  21. If there's not a fault with the system then regassing a car after 2yrs is ridiculous. Is it the car or the driver that's at fault for an inefficient a/c? I use Stevie J reply above as an example of bad practice. It's warm outside and the air inside the car is warmer still. So what Stevie is doing is driving off and introducing the warm air from outisde to cool that car's interior. NO WONDER IT'S SLOW TO COOL ! 🤣 Tip. If the air inside the car is warm first thing to do is turn on a/c and recirculate. ( many cars automatically set recirculate when a/c comes on ). The last thing you want to do is introduce warm air from the outside! As you drive off, lower all the windows to get the warm air inside the car out a.s.a.p. If you have an opening sunroof - better still ! Close all the windows and roof then after about 20-30secs, let the cool air from the a/c fill car and keep that air recirulating around. Hope that helps someone. There are many things I can criticise our Yaris Cross for but the a/c isn't one of them. It works no less efficient that other cars we've owned.

2020 Excel hybrid - 18 inch tyre size opinions

As @philip42h says ‘rubber adapted for all year performance. The CC tyre is a combination of natural and synthetic rubber, the balance of these is designed to allow the tyre to remain ‘soft’ as the weather gets colder or cools in wet conditions. With pure summer tyres you notice that is cool/cold conditions the pot holes become more significant as the tyre ‘hardens’. With the CC design the tyre remains softer and the tread design ‘sticks’ more to the road. There are some good alternatives, Goodyear etc., and there are plenty of comparison tests on YouTube if you want to take a look.

    It had to go

It should be possible, as with some EV cars, for the HV battery to automatically charge the 12V battery via the inverter at anytime it is needed (i.e. when the car is parked up and not in use). My previous FIAT 500 electric used to do this if the car was unused for a few days.

No, there is the Mazda 2 Hybrid (Yaris clone) and the Mazda 2 petrol.

Isn't the Mazda 2 hybrid a Yaris? Frying pan - fire?

    It had to go

It's totally the wrong car for me also. I haven't put any petrol in it yet despite owning it for 2 months. But it is lovely and as long as you compensate for lack of use then it will be a good purchase
