Or in simple terms from the petrolheads guide to cars. Power at the Crank vs Power at the Axle.

    Toyota assist

My son who owns a Yaris hatchback gets 3 years roadside assistance after taking out a service plan. I have the same service plan but I only got 1 year roadside assistance with my Yaris Cross.

Cruise control and traffic sign recognition

I seem to recall reading that the UK had little choice in blanket adoption of EU vehicle safety legislation, otherwise the EU could legitimately prevent UK vehicles from being driven on the continent, which would be a significant issue for many that take their cars over there for holidays.

Yes you're right, 1 hp = 1.01387 bhp. The Din ...is with engine fitted in car, as opposed to a bench test. Therefore 114 hp = 115.58 bhp.
  6. Hello From Malta. I am Old John, just joined the Toyota Owners Club forum. I drive a Toyota Vitz 2001 A/T model. I wish to 'switch-off' the in-car BEEP-BEEP-BEEP Buzzer when putting the shift lever in the 'R' position. As I intend to fit Reverse Parking Sensors , there would be a cacophany of BEEPS and that would be confusing. I don't want to totally disarm the Beep Buzzer completely as it serves various other warnings. I wonder if any members have any suggestions from past experiences about this difficulty I am experiencing. Thanks in advance for any advice given. Kind regards, Old John

    Back in an Aygo :)

Fantastic, love that generation of Aygo as well. My family think I’m nuts, and my kids bemoan when I get all gooey eyed over one. I’m not in the market for a car at the moment but I do keep my eyes on the ground if something special (Aygo) comes along, so many red ones for sale, category cars, or ones without all the gadgets and gizmos. Aygo’s are fetching strong money at the moment, and the C1 and 107/108 just don’t have the same “buzz” about them! Good luck with the Aygo!

That’s what I liked about ford, you could renew each year if you had your car checked/serviced at a participating dealership, can’t remember what it cost, but it was cheaper that the AA ect…

    RAV4 Mk1 1998 - Modern engine swap?

Hello! im interested in doing the same! id love to know what the OP ended up doing and what options they found. Thanks
  13. Hi, I have a Noah Townace/liteace camper van, it's a 1997 import, diesel automatic and the speedometer has suddenly started to become intermittent. When the speedometer reads zero, the odometer is also not working, however when the speedometer does work, so does the odometer. I've googled it and most posts I've read seem to suggest the sensor, I don't think I have a cable drive but could be wrong. I'm hoping someone out there may know? Which ever it is I'd need a part number so I can order a new part. As it's an import and an old model, my local Toyota dealer can't help, as they can't get the manual on their computers, I've had this problem with them for other parts I've needed. Can anyone help?

fuel tank - metal or plastic

I have a feeling the early Jap built ones from 1999 - 2001 had a metal tank and the later french built ones had a plastic tank. I know when I had my Mk1 (1999 T reg) it had more of a problem with the filler pipe between the tank and the filler flap rusting through and having to be replaced by the time the car was about 11 years old. Perhaps the filler necks were better protected from road spray from the rear wheel on the French built Mk1, but the Jap built early Mk1 had no protection at all and was highly likely to corrode through - both the filler pipe and the breather pipe that ran up along side it to the filler flap. Mine rusted through right at the top of the wheel arch where all the mud collected round it.

    Back in an Aygo :)

Welcome back "Aygostu"......And what a little cracker you have bought! I remember your last Aygo as I was always a bit jealous of the level of trim, fun roof, leather and a fab colour! Your new one is in my favourite mark 2 colour but you are right, get the rear windows tinted as it will be even better! It's great to have you back on the site (Albeit with a new name 😉) and I look forward to see what you do and having a few chats with you. All the very best, Stuart and have loads of fun in your new motor.
  17. Ack that sucks... I wonder what caused it??

    Nextbase Dash Cams

If yours is like mine, plugging it into a computer just shows the contents of the SD card. With most cameras you can only change the settings via its built-in menu, or an app, or more rarely a WiFi web interface.

    Transition zone shaking

I would say these type of jobs are best done as diy if you can or by a mechanic who has worked on these cars and know how. It’s nothing so special but there are some important steps and things that needs to be done exactly. Hete an example of what we are talking about.

You should get a renewal letter a month or so before it expires, but if you prefer a different recovery firm or can get similar cover from insurance/bank/work etc you can change.
  21. all of a sudden my touch 2 & Go would not come on, found a blown 20A fuse for the radio, replaced it but lost the Bluetooth and maps. Looks like the satnav module had failed/died, looks like I am going to need a replacement unit too.

    12v battery maintenance, issues, etc.

Yes Graham47 I fitted a Yuasa battery but I have removed it to cary out a reconditioning desulphation on it when I have time after setting up my solar charger I will refit it. As you can see the battery in not dead just not good at holding a charge under a small car hibination mode. Maybe you like to see a daily brakedown of a number of small trips. Note no voltage drop to 12 volts on the first stop start set.

    Nextbase Dash Cams

As I've mentioned previously, our Yaris has the same dashcam, and that records over the oldest videos when the card is filled. I've now also realised that to delete files, I have to remove the SD card and using a card adapter, plug it into my PC. I need to access the camera settings and can't connect with my phone, I assume I can plug my Laptop directly into the camera and change settings that way ? I shall try tomorrow.

    Paranoid about used Yaris Hybrid

As said before, when the car is stationary, and especially if you haven't got the footbrake applied, then it does kick a bit as the engine is started. Shouldn't be noticeable when travelling. You need to be specific about exactly what the conditions are when any given symptom occurs. The ICE goes on or off in many different scenarios.
