Was the car's MPG affected by the wider tyres Abdul? Also, is the speedometer still reading accurately ?

    C-HR vs Yaris Cross

Can probably understand the not doing a lot on the YC, at 116ps for a car that size is unpowered. I have the hatchback, it's good for handling and enough power. I'm not voting, though the 2.0 chr would probably get my vote 🫠

    MK3 wiper blade removal

That assumes that: a) you know it's just stuck and not a mechanical latch that needs releasing, b) you are happy to squirt WD40 or the like near your windscreen. For a, I didn't know (the one I removed was apparently a friction/spring clip and the replacement has a positive latch) and for b, I wouldn't be happy doing that (though I might try a very small drop of oil on the likely places).
  5. Flash 22 My timing is similar to your instructions And I have understood so far by comparing 30 videos of this procedure That there are two types of crankshaft - timing sprocket and the main instruction book has two versions withouth mentioning a difference for the 1kr fe After rotating chain a whole 5 rounds of 360° the 3 markings align as mentioned to ur guide Yes I did put back the key to the timing sprocket Then I haven't replaced the timing sprocket I will definitely look up for the 2 types Tsikis007 If I have understood correctly the crankshaft gear is assembled by heating up by the factory producing the crankshaft as I wanted to purchase one as a backup before removing it and it comes already as a one piece with the crankshaft I will post tomorrow as I have reassembled again today and waiting for gasket sealant to dry Also additionally I found the oil control filter very dirty and almost blocked Will try to start engine without it
  6. Finally updated Techstream Thought I would post some screenshots Illumination Windows - windows up or down via the fob or key, Auto up/down on all windows can be controlled Warnings Other lots of other stuff, nothing of any interest, no options for RSA, BSM or AVAS, but you can disable LTA and RCTA all devices/modules under TS

    MK3 wiper blade removal

I struggled with the original one on ours to be honest. It was you tube that helped me.
  10. That is great info and makes sense. Thank you very much.

    MK3 wiper blade removal

For the difficult removal of the original wiper this wd-40 silicone spray could have helped a lot.
  13. Usually yes, best way is directly to the battery terminal. Although the under bonnet points are direct connection to the 12v battery, yours might have been dead already.

The Premiere Edition - AKA Tony

Striking is the term that I would use. I really like it.

    New Toyota owner

Hi Paul. Welcome. I’m a new member too. Took delivery of my first Toyota this week. Its a 2024 Yaris design with safety pack and I love it. I’ve found the forum very helpful.

    MK3 wiper blade removal

No the mk3 uses a single 26" flat blade, the bosch aerotwin is £16-18 quid
  17. After 4 hours the battery doesn't seem any better. I'm guessing that the terminal under the bonnet is not the correct place to connect a charger? i.e. I should connect it directly to the battery in the boot?
  18. Good point. If the car has A/C and it is switched it on, the fan will come on more frequently, in fact, it only stops running briefly and comes back on again.

    HEV to EV?

Mark, is your friend referring to ALL types of electric cars, including hybrids (HEVs)? After owning my 2021 C-HR for just over a year now, I have not yet found any downsides to suggest I have made a mistake in my purchase. Any personal criticisms that I might have would apply if the car was solely ICE powered. Unless your friend can provide genuine technical reasons for his opinion, then I’m afraid it is just that - an opinion.

    HEV to EV?

But the decision depends largely on the charging and range issue. If you can't charge at home then stick with the HEV. If you can, then you can't really go wrong with a PHEV, you can shift your short trips entirely to electric but after a while the limited electric range does start to annoy a bit. The HEV mode does mean you never have to worry wherever you go and the Toyotas still give impressive efficiency operating as pure HEVs. Whereas many manufacturer's PHEVs generally deliver pretty poor to mediocre efficiency when running in HEV modes. The EV infrastructure is improving, there's a lot more rapid charge points going in everywhere, so for driving around the UK, if buying a car today I'd jump for an EV rather than a PHEV. No, not at new car prices because they lose so much money in the first few years. Plus I'm not a fan of these over-sized SUV type models built like a small tank. The Toyota bZ3 looks good, but they're not selling it in Europe.

Why does my radiator fan come on

….and whether the a/c is on.
  23. If the car is left idling and up at normal working temperature then yes the fan will come on at regular intervals. Completely normal. How come you ask - has the behaviour changed do you think? Or have you just not noticed this before? How often it comes on depends on the ambient temperature of course. In winter it will take longer for the fan to come on compared to summer.

Input Shaft transmission damper 2021 Yaris

I’m not sure I understand that Tony. They couldn’t get the parts. It’s easy to run away with the idea covid fallout never happened but there are still knock on shortages. I’m sure if parts had been available they’d have got you out of the way pdq. It’s what they are famous for.
  25. Hi Jacko, as a recent convert to the 23 Corolla TS I can strongly recommend, my views are very much as has been said above, Major positives:- Reliable and well built running costs (55 real world mpg and lower road tax bracket, no cam belt or clutch or expensive dsg servicing) very smooth to drive and relaxing nice driving position and good controls. Minor negatives to me :- not as enjoyable to thrash around country roads, handling is good enough but transmission not suited to this manner of driving. a little bit noisy on rough roads compared to cars like A3, golf but still fine. towing limited to a trailer (750kg) Boot is 10% smaller than some rivals (Octavia) but bigger than an Audi A6 or BMW 5 series touring. not many cubbyholes for internal storage. Overall a great car and as Wharcar decided best in class in 2024.
