Hi Mathew. We can often get wrapped up in so many things without realising that the most beautiful things are often the things that are around us all the time.🌞

Simple query to first generation Prius owners!

Thanks all! Oh! Ithought even the red triangle coming on and then vanishing a second later was normal! 😞
  5. We have got the Vestel-type charger (the standard one eON offers), but we've experienced the same issue with EVC+ public chargers, as well as PodPoint chargers. All on the Type 2 connectors. The eON tariff is between midnight and 7am, so we have the schedule set 00:15 - 06:45 just to ensure we don't go over - this is set up in the eON app and the car itself has no schedule set. We hear the cable lock click in place and have tried different cables - we've experienced the issue in different locations, using different cables, both scheduled and unscheduled, with different users (my wife and me). Initially Toyota tried to suggest it was because we weren't using an official Toyota cable, but they don't sell a cable longer than 5 metres and our car is 8 metres from the charging point. Also, we've had the issue with the official cable also. We've tried lots of different things. One thing I have noticed is that you really do need to hold the charging cable in for a good few seconds to get it to definitely lock correctly. It's ridiculous. I see other people pull up in their Leaf / Tesla etc, chuck their cable into the socket and then walk away. For us, we have to hold the cable in for 5 seconds until it clicks, then I have to open the app and do a 'boost' to make sure it charges (which takes up to 10 minutes, as eON build in a random delay), and then I have to cancel the boost and leave it to scheduled charge. I can't just 'plug it in and walk away'. I am very confident that the issue is with the car. The fact that my eON app shows 6:30 hours of charging but 0 KWH charged on multiple occasions means it recognises that the car is plugged in, but the error is that the car is not authorising the charge, or it is suspending the charge in some way. We really want to give the car back but the garage are arguing that because they can't find a fault, they can't accept the car back. But they are not checking for a fault in the same set of circumstances as we are: they are just plugging the car into an always-on charging point.
  6. What charger do you have at home, as I assume EON should be telling the charger when to charge? The only time I had an issue with overnight charging is when I unlocked the car, which with the Zappi seems to unlock the charging port. Is the EON tarrif only active at night as I wonder if you can plug it in during the day and tell it you want a 90% charge by 4am, as that should force it to charge during the day (assuming EON cheaper rate is limited to only overnight, Octopus isn't as it will charge at the cheaper rate as long as it's scheduled via them). I assume you hear the cable lock in place and you have tried a different cable (maybe the garage will be kind enough to lend you one they know works). When you say you have issues out of the house I assume you mean on the Type 2 connector and not the CCS. Also check Zapmap to check that issues haven't been reported with the charging unit by other people. Most issues do seem to be down to the 'smart' electric tariff and OHME chargers seem to have more problems than others (but that could just be down to more people having on OHME charger)
  7. Crime in the UK is on the increase, and the types of crime being committed are something we would not have expected only a few years ago. But don’t be surprised at the way things are going. The government, the police, the courts and many of the over-pious population have senselessly dismissed the fact that criminals are only controlled by ‘fear of consequence’. I hate it when I hear a police officer call a delinquent “mate”. Making the prisons “cushy” along with ridiculously lenient sentences, is simply encouraging the rabble to come back for more. I can never understand the courts giving suspended sentences or to carry out unpaid work. Neither can I understand coming from a poor background being mitigating circumstances. The criminals are very lucky that I am not delegated to set out punishment - back would come the stocks, the birch, and capital punishment for unprovoked killing, and especially for killing a police officer. And, if we really want to stay safe, the police must be given wider powers to protect themselves from malicious harm.

Lspi was problem with DI engines early on due to small pockets of fuel exploding uncontrolled at the edge of the pistons. This could destroy the pistons and wreck engines. Apparently the type of oil is critical as one additive in the oil promoted this. I can't remember precise details but using the correct oil stops this
  9. I just want to say we are with eON energy but experiencing the same issue in that we're waking up to find our BZ4X hasn't charged. No schedules set in the MyT app, all schedules are in eON next. We're also having issues on non-scheduled charging points away from home. One of our friends recommended Octopus Agile to us, but as I understand it it is incompatible with BZ4X.
  10. Thanks, I messaged one guy on eBay about an 80mm one and without replying he blocked me from buying it, he lost out really cos I would have taken the hit if it was too big, hopefully he saved me the money because I found a 78mm one in UK and ordered that, so I will have to suck it and see, and then order a 79mm from china if that is too small.
  11. Hi All, First time posting here, but I've run out of options and need someone to tell me I'm not mad. We took ownership of a brand new BZ4X in January and we are having a nightmare with it. Around 25% of the time, the car will fail to charge. We are with eON and will plug the car in around 10 or 11pm before we go to bed. There is no charging schedule set on the car; instead, our eON Next app has the schedule set to run between 00:15 and 06:45 when our rates are cheapest. Our tariff is eON drive. Most of the time, we wake up and all is fine. However, 1 in 4 times we wake up to find that the car hasn't charged overnight. In the eON app, it shows the car as 'plugged in but not charging'. When we look at the insights, it shows a charging session of 6:30 hours but with zero KWH drawn. Our car has been in and out of the garage on three separate occasions and is currently with them now, with the highest level escalation to Toyota HO, but they are unable to find any fault or replicate the issue. We are also experiencing the issue at public chargers, including my workplace. So, not just scheduled chargers, but immediate charges also - multiple locations, multiple charging point providers, multiple cables and multiple users. We have raised a support ticket with eON who have looked at the logs and can't see anything wrong with the charger: they are seeing an error code that shows the car is suspending the charge. We've eliminated WIFI as a potential cause. Our local Toyota garage have been supportive, but unable to find any issue; once we started saying we wanted to return the car their salesperson adopted quite a different tone and suggested we can't give it back because they can't find a fault. So, we are now paying £500 a month for a car that fails to charge 25% of the time, where we can't rely on it for its intended purpose. Looking at these forums I can see a few other threads from people experiencing charging issues. I'd like to know other people's experiences, but also advice on where we go from here: the garage don't seem able to replicate the issue, but it doesn't surprise me because they have totally different infrastructure to us at home. Help, please!!

Now, I was out in the 8wheeler last night on my way to the middle of nowhere to swap a vacuum vessel, as the normal bloke don't work bank holidays, and I was on the A44, I happened to of left earlier then normal, been on this road a few times, and oh what I have missed, it was glorious, beautiful hills, vegetation, the rivers, the benefits of being high up, what over glorious unspoiled roads have you been on
  13. In broad daylight too... 😧 Honestly I'm getting scared now. Our house was broken into but nothing was taken aside from various jars being open, assuming they were looking for car keys. Worried I'm a target. Got a steering wheel lock on as a deterrent but if they can just strip it down like this that's not going to matter.
  14. A reason for oil burning in early age of some Toyota engines can be wrong type of oil filled up at service intervals and more precisely the 5w30 semi synthetic Toyota oil. This oil has less high heat protection than the 0w20, less flow at start up and oil breaks too quickly leaving black deposits inside the engine which cause oil rings to get stuck, excess blow by and glaze on the cylinder walls. As a result then we have high oil consumption and all followed issues. Thicker oils does not provide extra protection or help reduce oil consumption, it’s actually an opposite effect . My car ( 1.8 hybrid) has always been run on 0w20 and up until 130k miles had no oil consumption or very minimal with almost no top ups between oil changes. Since that the engine started to burn oil and now drinks oil 3ltr for 10k miles intervals.
  15. tank capacity is 43L according to the technical specs for the corolla. the best i have seen on my car is 550km with 80km left on range indicator for a full tank after long motorway return drive
  16. Just over a week ago a Highways Maintenance lorry arrived in the road and, two doors below us, they placed four yellow cones in the gutter and drove away. Nothing happened. And a day later the cones disappeared. Last Friday, the four cones reappeared in the same position, but this time a further two in the gutter on the opposite side of the road. This morning May 7, without anything happening, the cones have disappeared again. The only explanation I can think of, is that the cones are undergoing tests to check that they are working satisfactorily.

  18. That is like mine but it was much much more than just 'some smoke visible', it was a total wipeout. I've modified my driving to not do that and haven't seen smoke at all in 6 months now. Really hard acceleration right up to the limiter does not produce anything visible in my case. Unbelievably I've gone back to 0W20 (Duckhams QXR GM) which is proving very good indeed. Yes it still burns oil but I would say I've cut the consumption by 50% or more.
  19. Best efficiency I have achieved at night in London and surrounding counties driving relaxed within speed limits, better than official figures. Any A roads or motorway drives reduce the efficiency or short town trips in heavy traffic. For the first it’s the diesel a king, second it’s he bev, and hybrids are just in between as perfect all around figures 👏
  20. An old wartime Vet, lifelong Villa Supporter, had his wallet, pension and season ticket stolen. The Club stood by him and gave him a new ticket. Later, unloading his car from the shops, he returned for his second bag to find a t-leaf lifting it out of the boot before walking off. While he remonstrated with the thief another took the bag he had taken into his house. His son said "that's it, you're not staying here any longer". As an aside, he was on a destroyer when his flotilla leader was sunk. His ship was involved in rescuing people in the water. One man was unable to hold onto the rope ladder. Ernie, then 17, had the presence of mind to fasten a bucket to the rope and rescued the man. He was hauled on board, naked, and covered in oil. He was taken below decks. Ernie's Petty Officer said "you made the mess, now clean it up." 50 years later, in one of those quirks, at an Association meeting someone was relating Ernie's story to a new member "I was that man",said Gerald.

All lights except the Master Warning Light (Red Triangle). It's a check to ensure the warning lights are functional. The MWL can be checked by opening the driver's door with the car in D.

That's nonsense. Your head unit is not set up correctly, go back and see your salesman, they are supposed to set your MyT profile to the head unit, once that is done, you only accept the blue screen once, next time you get in the car it knows it's you and you don't get the blue screen. To be honest I find it a right faff, they could not have made it any more difficult, but once done, thats it

You certainly know your stuff Flash, thankyou for your reply again, I will now switch oil to 5/30 👍 Can't say in 8 years the no turn over has happened before, which was and felt very unusual as I'm pretty deaf anyway, but total silence was bit weird, I'll book car in let Toyota check codes, oil wells and clutch, and take it from there. Thankyou Flash, I'll keep you informed, kindest regards Keith
  24. Try and find a reputable eBay seller with good feedback. I bought a cheap Chinese 64.5mm removal tool for my Yaris a few years ago and it still works. It was only around £6 and I was expecting it to break on the first use.
  25. A good test drive along varied roads, and checking the rear view & driver's door mirror regularly for smoke should indicate any oil burning issues. Before I started using an oil additive on my Mk2 1.33, some smoke was visible when driving down a long (approx 2 mile) downhill section of dual carriageway. After giving way at the roundabout at the bottom of the hill, smoke was visible when pulling away.

    Day time running lights ?

It always struck me that DRLs were intended as an effective means of culling motorcyclists. Motorbikes, even on dipped headlights, can vanish into a mass of other lights. Cyclists haven't really changed. Flashing lights are irritating, but improve visibility. The sensible ones are still aware of their vulnerability and behave sensibly. The minority seem to have a death wish. Sadly, it seems that road planners, and those who create traffic laws, are required to be non-drivers.

It’s normal. All lights comes up on dashboard when starting the car+and then they all should go off. Late 2009 can be also a gen3 from the very first ones, on 59 plate, or early 2010 same number.
