    Tyres?

Agree entirely. My OEM tyres are Goodyear and also 20k. There is plenty of tread on the front. Whilst our driving styles will be different that certainly suggests Goodyear are more durable. My next year will be the same Yaris Cross Excel and I was disappointed to see an the Toyota site the Icon and Excel will have Falken with Design and Premier different. 😮‍💨

    Tyres?

Now Fred, turning your question around, what do you want your tyres to do? There are so many variables- are you a fair weather motorist or all year round? Country lanes, towns or motorway? High mileage or low? Fast or slow? Economy or quietness? Brand/price is of course a big question. In our youth, when we would put in 10/- worth of petrol and buy retreads money was really scarce. I just had to buy a new tyre for £160 to match the current and original tyres. Had I had to replace all 4 I could have had a discount and possibly taken 0% interest payments. Had that been the case then I would certainly research.

    2024 C-HR Trips

You can set them up in one of the screen views , you then can scroll through using the left hand control on the steering wheel. To reset you hold the OK button whilst either Trip A or B is visible. It was much easier on the old model and more intuitive but you had far less choice. It’s just a matter of spending the time to get used to the options. Once you know where things are it’s no harder than the old model. The ACC controls are now way better on the steering wheel than a stalk hidden behind the wheel and very intuitive so it’s swings and roundabouts 🤷‍♂️

    Tyres?

Default will be Summer tyres in UK. I am just about to change all 4 (17") tyres on my car. Waiting until after 20k service as wheel alignment is (listed as) part of that. So my OE Falkens have got to 20k (and are still legal) although I swapped front to rear etc at about 13k. I find my car has been very challenging on the little bit of snow etc down here, and poor too on loose surfaces or wet grass etc. And I do travel North many times each year, So next tyres will be all season - likely CrossClimates.

    Tyres?

Fred, in England I would guess summer. In Scotland, and time of year, possibly summer or winter. If you go wearing muddy boots quite likely Mud and Snow. Distilling this down, most likely a summer tyre rather than all season.

    Tyres?

Since following this forum I've got confused about tyres. In the past I've always bought, well, tyres! I now learn that there are summer tyres, winter tyres and all season tyres. So what have I been buying in the past when I've just go to the local, or more recently mobile, tyre fitter and buy .... tyres? I realise you can't actually answer that question without knowing what i actually purchased, but my point is when you just have a conversation with your fitter and choose a brand / price band with no mention of seasons, what are you likely to get?

    Is it eCVT or CVT

Thanks everyone, obviously the newer cars don’t have the mechanical rev counter of Speedo.

    Cross Side Steps

Did you manage to install the side steps ? I'd like a second opinion on how easy/hard it is. I'm guessing Mr T would allocate 2/3 hours if they did it !!
  10. I have the radio unit talking to my home WiFi, and I am sure there must be a software update since 2020, not a NAV update, just the system firmware update, but the radio unit option for new firmware is always greyed out Any ideas? Thank you
  11. I'll not bother you with details, but never replace your horn yourself. So the plastic tab on the headlight which the slam panel top cover is plastic push bolted to, is broken, so I only have 70% of the hole where the plastic push fit is to go into. The slam panel is now loose above the passenger headlight. I now need to repair this 'tab' and have been watching lots of videos on doing so. I would though, like the advice of plastic repair experts. Anyone know a good forum where I can get this advice? Thank you.

Have you ever met anyone famous

We’re you shaken, but not stirred.?
  14. Primus1

    Oh..

    Ouch, I feel your pain..
  15. Primus1

    Oh..

Thanks don, problem I’ve got is having somewhere to get it done, I’m hoping it can be done at work otherwise it will mean taking a day’s holiday to get it done at home, and I have precious few of those, I guess they don’t work weekend’s either..

    New CHR mpg

So finally managed the run over the NY Moors to Whitby so plenty of hills, and a very un stressed drive train considering some of the gradients. Average speeds are what they are , can’t see the point of risking life or limb to get by one truck to find myself behind the next one 🤷‍♂️ scenery was great 👍😎

    2024 C-HR Trips

I saw this in the manual and was confused by what is meant by "2 items". So to quickly get access to my two Trips I have to go into Settings, select Meters and then Trip A and Trip B to view/reset? Much easier on the old model!

    2024 C-HR Trips

I know EXACTLY how you feel ☹️. The Combimeter is great BUT a lot of stuff is buried. Two weeks in I’m still not 100% confident I can find what I want. I downloaded the user manual and saved it in PDF reader which helps a lot when navigating it and finding things. The Trip meters are on P114. Despite having to spend many hours sat on the drive playing around with settings I’m absolutely loving the new car, which is a big step up from the old model , marmite looks an all 😍

    Highlander Screen upgrade

Appolgise , i ashumed i'd get an emaiil notifcation on any replies. I work at a Toyota Dealer im not really a fan of the old head unit as not much has changed in the 10years since that head units been in place. Although them old units are alot more relaible. For a 55-60k car from new pretty bad that its got the old style unit installed tbh comparing to the lexus systems over the last 10 years. I just discovered yesterday that the 73 - 24 plate models have a new style head unit installed but bigger price on the used or new market

Sorry, no idea and it may just be what you found access to an identification number.

US spare wheel and neat place for charge lead

Never managed that, the best I could do was a non OEM tyre space saver and tools. I made up my own packing which has worked fine for the three years I’ve had the car.

    PHEV advice

Best to just ask the dealer if the car has had the DCM module software updated. Also: There was also a recall for a software update to the heating system for ‘cold’ working, it would effectively make a grinding noise. It is still apparent it’s working when it’s cold but a lot better. There was also a DC-DC converter recall, the whole module was replaced. All of these have been covered extensively at one time or another in this forum. Otherwise, take your own advice, sit back, drive and enjoy. I found coming from other makers, as @Nick72 has indicated it took a little time to dive through the various set ups not only within the car menus but also by setting up a Toyota account and going into that account registering the car and then making additional car setups. The online account is where you can order map updates etc. (also covered in the forum) Download, if you haven’t already, the My Toyota app and go through the process of adding the car and registering the Navigation (head unit), can be a tricky process. I and others have changed some of the various light bulbs to LED’s some make a massive difference, reversing lights, boot light, puddle lights and may be of interest.

    Auris hybrid 12v battery replacement

Thanks Tony, it is something I had wondered about and particularly with so many battery issues and folk possible removing batteries to charge them. Hmm, interesting.
  24. Has anyone ordered the US spare wheel ? I am guessing it is way too expensive due to P&P charges ? When I was watching a You Tube clip I noticed the US model (RAV 4 5th gen) has a neat spare wheel and then the charge lead neatly within the polysterene base. All looked great, far better than the inflator kits we have here in the UK. Or am I mistaken ? Can we get a copy here in the UK ?
  25. Here’s the mount I have, you have a choice of locations as it’s on a swinging arm that clips onto the vent. It’s secure for a 6.5” phone: Search for - AiHiwvol Cell Phone Holder for Car Vent [Longest Hook] on Amazon

Corolla estate 1.8 range on a full tank.

Agreed.... And that's why most High mileage drivers avoid ev's unless it's a company car and then you get massive tax breaks.. Brother has a kia niri ev... £48000 and he pays a massive £14 a month car tax no brainer really but he keeps his own Auris hybrid for longer journeys 😳😳😳😂😂

    Hybrid Vs petrol

Just a little update I still haven't filled the petrol car up yet, being used for work and school/nursery runs, still on half a tank, it would be interesting to fill both up and see which actual does the best
