Noise On Pulling Off

Hi there hope somebody can help.

Have a landcruiser rx kzj90 with auto box. Recently she's been making a rumbling noise whilst in neutral but does not do this in park. Also very occasionaly iv'e noticed that upon pulling away hard from a standstill she makes a few clicking sounds like the sound of a front wheel drive car with a nackered cv joint would make. It does this noise in a straight line and on a turn, Could that be my gearbox? upon a quick inspection i notice that I have a little play in the rear prop uj but i dont see how that could make that noise. are there splines that can slip in an auto box to make that noise? Any other points I should check for to diagnose her? or does it definately sound like the box is screwd. many thanks any advice greatfully recieved.

Hi,

Check the oil seal on the transfer box / oil lvl. Had same problem cost 1K for re-con box & fitting
