Fitting Rear Speakers In Corolla

Hi All,

I'm after some advice about fitting rear Speakers in my 2000 1.4 vvti hatchback corolla. I'm fitting them on the back next to the parcel shelf. There is already a mount for the Speakers but no Speakers there. I screwed my own speakers into the mount and ran the wires behind the trim to the front.

My stereo is a factory fitted unit with the radio and trip etc head unit on the top of the dash with a cassette player beneath the air ducts. I removed the air ducts to remove the head unit and attempted to attach the wires But I can't find where to attach the new wires! The wiring information i've got off the net says that i should have 12 wires coming out of the back but I have 15!! I'm wondering if there are already wires fitted but I just can't find them!

Any advice on wiring colours for speakers would be much appreciated.

PS I've added a pic if the connector into the headset, if its any help.

The image you posted looks a little like the connector in this pic, the one on the left side.

If this is the same, it should be for the trip computer and stuff, and not for the power or audio that you need for your setup.

yeah it does look like the one on the left. I noticed that the aerial seems to go down to the cassette player would the Speakers go from there aswell?

Does anyone know if the speaker wires are attached to the head unit or the cassette unit? And are the cables usually already factory fitted?

Can you try and take a pic of your dashboard and pics of your H/U, i'm trying to work out the layout of your setup.

On the H/U, does it have a fade feature, so you can fade front to back at all?

If anything, your looking for a connector block/s with 4 pairs of cables that look the same, be it 2 green/blue/red/orange cable, 1 with a solid and 1 with a dash pattern colour cable, this in turn should be your speaker cables, you would need to connect off this.
