Insurance + Mods

Hi all,

Just phoned up my insurance (admiral) to tell them about my new wheels, and so far with all my mods:

Audio stuff

Coilovers

Wheels

Air Intake

they've charged me an extra £86.

This is probably because it's a 1.4 so I'm not going to be winning any races, but I still think this is !Removed! cheap so I am over the moon.

Thought it might be worth passing on to you all just in case you're in the market for insurance :)

*****, I might have to change!

eSure's were pretty shocking when I asked about adding one of Kingo's D4D chips and getting non-OEM wheels! Would have been about a £175 increase in total!

But to be fair their quote was about £80 less than the next nearest at the time

Again, I think it's because I've only got the 1.4, also I've not lowered by much and I explained that the wheels cost me £70 second hand and I didn't really care what happened to them, they quoted me £24 for adding the wheels, I nearly laughed!

They didn't charge anything for the induction kit either.

The audio cover was free up to £600, but a further £600 is available for not very much.

The coilovers cost me an extra £60 which I think is pretty fair tbh.

Try sky insurance, no extra charge for mods (unless they add over a certain % power)

Considering I paid £500 without mods then £584 with I'm pretty darn happy!!

That seems quite steep! im only a year older than you and im paying £700 for a tsport insured for doing over 20,000 miles a year.

Although I guess there are lots of other factors on insurance rather than just age

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, its that time of year for insurance renewal.....

Esure wanted £649.. without mods declared and my dad on the policy ( )

So went to the Insurance supermarkets!!

Admiral wanted £606 without mods declared, so I thought I'd try with the mods on..

So declared, lowered suspension, rear window tints and sideskirts!!

Now they want £578.... bargain.. (I think) I still think this is still expensive for me.. But nevermind it's sorted for 12mths...
