Dead Key Fob - Toyota Corolla D-4D 2006

The Battery in my keyfob appears to be on tt's way out. If I can't use the fob to unlock the car but instead manually unlock the door with the key, will I be able to start the car? Or will the immobilser still be active? There's no alarm on the vehical as far as I'm aware.... Many thanks
