10 Years Of Warranty

Bought my 06 Rav4 from a main dealer with 12 months Toyota warranty included, when it came to its end i had the option to renew. Ron Brookes who I bought the car off and RRG who fitted my new engine both said it would be £625 to renew my warranty for a further 12 months with unlimited mileage and that this can be repeated until the vehicle is eight years old. Also option to pay in full or ten monthly payments

While thinking about renewing my Warranty with the Dealers I had a letter from Toyota Warranties asking if I wanted to renew my policy for a further 12 months with unlimited mileage for £329 and that I could repeat this until the vehicle is ten years old. Also options of full payment or ten monthly payments of £39 and no penalties if you sell the Car and stop payments.

Which option would you choose :blow: Regards Rob

You need to ask, Check the small print then decide but the Toyota Warranty sounds good

Was the letter from the company that manages Toyota warranties on behalf of Toyota?

That is a good point. Plenty of people around pretending to represent companies they don't really.

Yes that is the company that manages extended warranties on behalf of Toyota. There was a topic on one of the other clubs quite some time ago, where the original poster was in the same situation - and it seems to be an anomaly whereby dealers can only offer extended warranties up to when the car is 8 years old, whereas, if you buy direct from The Warranty Group you can buy an extended warranty covering the car for 10 years - and it is the same Toyota warranty.

I'd go with the Toyota Warranty offer.

It's like Toyota insurance, it's underwritten by Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, but it's still regarded as a good product. My Volvo and LR insurance are both Royal Sun Alliance!

Hey all. Been a while... Greetings to old friends.

This is actually quite interesting! Been thinking about sticking with the familiar devil or jumping ship and this could well be the deal-maker. Anyone have any idea how / whom to inquire about this with ? That would take the edge of the old time-bomb of early 2AD coming up to the 7-yr mark. (To use the Sun school of headline-writing :) )

I set my warranty up with them on the phone 0844 871 8024 Twg services ltd (quote Toyota 5+ warranty). Ten payments of £32.90 per month =£329 and no penalty if you stop payments or sell the vehicle.

Regards Rob.

We used TWG to extend our warranty on our previous 4.2 3-dr. They were cheaper than TGB dealers and apparently are able to extend the Toyota warranty up to 10 years whereas the dealer network are limited to 8 years, i.e. the last full annual warranty they can offer is when vehicle is 7 years old.

The two warranties are identical.

Thanks very much for the info guys. I'll see if I can give them a call tomorrow and see what they can offer. The last time I looked into this, it was definitely waaay more expensive. Like 2x the amount Rob mentioned. That was at the dealers, admittedly...

Well... no dice on that. :(

Just to save some people some time:

Toyota Warranty Group won't sell you an extended warranty. You have to go to the dealers. They won't even extend the cover if it expired long ago. (Mine expired a year and a half ago. Couldn't afford the dealership-level-price renewal)

That is a shame. For the prices Rob was mentioning I could afford to stick with it for a couple of years. This RAV has been a pretty good car but this Toyota nonsense of "if your engine goes boom after 7yrs + a day _due to a known fault_ - you're on your own"... just can't afford to risk it. (yes, I am really bitter about it, part of the reason I stayed away from the forum for a while too :( )

Well... maybe the universe is trying to tell me to just get rid of the RAV. </rant over> :)

Trade it in, mucker, but not to those Edingbureau tosser dealers at Sighthill whose reputation goes before thum, min.

Bring it through to Scotland's real capital, we will wash it, and go see Arnie 10 minutes away.

They aren't at Sighthill any more (& tbh I found them pretty good).

On the other hand when I was looking for my recent change neither of the Glasgow ACs would play ball at all despite having 2 cars in stock that I would have taken there & then.

Their loss, my gain - I got a 2.2 T-Spirit for the same price that AC wanted for a 2.0 TR but I had to go to Birmingham ...
