I took my Avensis 2008 plate back today as i had problems with a the turbo i had a refund under the 5 days return policy ,i read some horror stories regarding the head gaskets on the 2003 to 2008 on here it put me right off the car .apart from the bad reviews i liked the car some hate some like it i am one to say i liked it .

so i am now looking at the 2010 plus range and any major issues popping up with this car if anything dose it have the DPF fitted .

so whats your views on the latest modal any horror stories that cost a fortune to put right .it looks like Toyota is losing the plot with reliability and most of all is the concern to put them right when they fail .

Yes, it will have a DPF.

The electronic handbrake is a love it/hate it feature & if the actuator fails (& some have) it's a £1000 job. This isn't unique to Toyota.

Other than that it's a modern common-rail turbo-diesel with DMF, DPF etc. so potentially prone to issues as would any other manufacturer's equivalent be.

If the car was registered after June 2010 it will have come with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. If you are buying as an approved used from a Toyota dealer it would probably come with a year's warranty anyway.

I don't really see this. They had an issue with a small percentage (probably well under 5%) of engines, they acknowledged it & put in a "better than new" (7 years/112k vs 3 years/60k) warranty for it with a corrective programme should the issue arise. I don't think that you will find any major car manufacturer that would better that & few would match it (not Ford, Opel/Vauxhall, VW etc.).

There's a couple of diesels, quite a few folks complaining about poor mpg with the 2.2. Check out the 1.8 valvematic petrol if you're not doing uber high miles.
