Rav4 Unofficial Maintenance - Egr And Maf

After reading quite a few forum posts, it appears that is was suggested as a general good practice particularly for older (2007) D4D engines to do the EGR valve and MAF sensor cleaning once in a while. As my RAV4 2.2 D4D with 96k miles is due for service, and I also as I'm not sure if this was ever done, I did ask the service to perform these jobs. However, the reply was that these are very laborious jobs and not indicated unless the car has a real problem. What is the consensus around, should I insist for these to be done, is there any harm or risk?

Cheers!

you can clean the MAF with isopropyl alcohol.

be careful not to damage it.

give it a good spray as it will be dirty I'm sure.
