There is a small triangle which  pops up on the dash of my new RAV 4, It is just above the outside temperature display. It sometimes appears point up or point down

Does anyone know what is signifies. I cannot find it in owners manual

It is the gear shift indicator - an advisory system that the EU has adopted to advise appropriate times to change gear and improve fuel economy.
