Front Safety Camera Calibration

I recently had to have a new windscreen fitted to my Prius, all is okay, but I was told I would need to have the Safety Camera checked and calibrated; I've had it done today at my local Toyota dealer and it cost me £320 do you think this seems high, the dealer says it took nearly three hours and that's why it cost so much. Has anybody else had this job done and how much did it cost?

Hi if the windscreen was repaired under insurance would not the calibration be done also under insurance as well. My screen was replaced last week and am awaiting Autoglass to make the appointment for recalibration which I assumed was in the cost of screen replacement.

BTW I read somewhere a while ago that a windscreen claimed against your insurance counts as a claim, so you need to declare that claim for the next 5 years.

Some insurance companies now consider glass replacement as claims. Often they don't affect the level of no claims discount, but, as a claim, could still result in an increase in premium.

Hi I have had 3 screens replaced in the last 4 years (i'm really lucky ) 2 on a Lexus CT200h and 1 on the gen 4 I'm insured with Toyota's own insurance and so far had no increase in premium . I hope they don't decide to change their rules .

There are a lot of people in the US complaining over on PriusChat about how fragile the windscreen appears to be on the Gen 4.  I was hoping that our UK versions were different, but maybe we have the same issue too?

BTW a friend of mine had his windscreen replaced on his V40 by Autoglass and he didn't have to pay any extra for the calibration.

Hi just had the camera re-calibrated it did take 3 hours, good job the insurance paid for it, hoping the camera will now work correctly as for the last 18months it has been total rubbish only being right 40%of the time.
