Car and away - renting your car whilst on holiday. Not sure about this.

On BBC local news, one of the items was carandaway, the car version of AIrBnB - http://www.carandaway.com/. The idea, behind this, is whilst the owner is on holiday, they rent out their own car!

I personally would never get involved with such a scene. There are too much risks and you could end up in trouble!

Your insurance does not cover, plus the scheme insurance may not cover every situation. What if the other driver gets a speeding fine? The driver may have habits which may damage your car. EXtra wear and tear. So much things could happen. But then you could make a bit of money!

What do you think of this scheme?

I can see how it'd be a nice earner for those with more than one car, some one drives it and earns you a few quid.

But like you it's the legal insurance aspect of it that I'd be concerned about.

Never in a million years!!! the risk is just not worth it or the money. Car hire is cheap enough for a week anyway apart from letting a total stranger use it.
